hey guys, ive got a 1999 1.8 T A3 and this morning i noticed when i accelerate hard over 3000 rpm, there was a loss in power and i could hear like air escaping. similair to the dump valve / blow off valve noise. my engine is completly standard except the custome code stage one. just had a quick look at hoses and they seem ok.. any ideas?

Almost certainly boost escaping somewhere. You need to load the engine up while looking under the bonnet to have a better check.

Get someone to 'drive' the car. Keep the handbrake on while trying to setting off should create enough load to produce boost.

Could be a split pipe or slack jubilee clip.

Thanks for the reply. Ive had another quick look an they seem fine. Its booked in to audi tomo an no doubt they'll say my turbos ******, bend over an let us bum u for 600 notes. Any idea what hose i need to check as there are loads an there hard to get to.

just an update. i fixed the problem. turns out it was a hose that wasnt put on properly that connects the the intercooler near the drivers front wheel arch. :)

i took off most of the hoses as i was determined not to give audi ******* any more of my hard earned cash. noticed the hose was near the bottom of the engine and thought id check it out. the jubilee clip had moved or wasnt on properly and air was escaping.

so thats 1 to me and a big fat zero to audi. yay

good news :)

btw why not look for a decent specialist/garage instead of Audi?

yeah i should really but since i moved to devon it seems there all backwards and audi is the only place i no round here.
