A3 breather hose

Hey,
so lately i have been experiencing boost issues, with car unable to rev high and so on. After reading that it might be vacuum related i made a smoke machine and tried it on today . There was a lot of smoke coming from the breather hose. Could this be an issue? Should there be tight seal between the breather hose and intake hose? And if this breather hose is the culprit, how can such small simple piece of plastic fail?

Just buy a new hose, can’t imagine it would break the bank.

Ya that would be easy, but i am not sure if its needed and i couldn't find answers on the web if there should be air tight connection. By the looks of it that plastic hose shouldn't be able to make such connection. I removed it completely to test, thinking there should be a lot of extra unmetered by MAF air going into and cars behaviour should change, but it was idling normally. So i am kinda confused here.

Tape the pipe temporarily, so no leaks & test, that way you'll know for sure.
