Another day another problem with my A3 1.8T 2009, yesterday on my way back home from work on the highway speeding around 100km/h the EPC light just came on for around 15 sec followed with a strange cranking voice on the right side of the engine bay. The car kept going, I’ve pulled on the side road the noise kept going even in stationary, turned the engine off started it instantly right after still nothing changed, 10 seconds after the noise is gone like nothing happened!

Haven’t done a scan yet because im at work right now I’ll check and upload later this day.

Could it be a coil issue? Or something more serious than that!(like timing chain/alternator pully)

Thanks.

Try clearing the codes and drive the car for one or two days and rescan. I presume where you filled up last the quality of fuel may of been a bit poor.

Ive cleared the errors, but how this ja related to the “ engine horrible noise “ that came in when I was driving?

Coil pack misfire shows as a ‘Misfire’ (forgot the fault code number) and it would tell you which cylinder is affected. I’ve had two go within the last 6 months.
Your car should have a chain if an E888 engine and they have a suspect tensioner. Hope it’s not that as it’s expensive if it jumps a couple of cogs and wrecks yer valves.
Just had my chain and tensioner changed as a precaution on The 2litre version.
My advise is to have your engine checked in depth by either Audi or well known Audi specialist.

Yeah I’m going for an Audi specialist this week and there’s a recall outgoing from Audi in my country about the timing chain replacement. Thanks for the reply, I will update later.

So the problem solved!
Had to change the timing belt
