Have sold my car and now actively looking to buy an S3

Let me know what you have if your selling or even of thinking of selling. Ideally located around South Wales/South West.

Early facelift preferred with less than 70k on the clock and FASH. Must be in v.good condition with as few marks as possible.

dont be too botherd about full audi service history mate, if anything it tells me the owner knows nothing about cars so takes it to the dealer for everything. This also tells me theyre a mug for paying dealership prices!!

Look for an enthusiast owned car, with audi or vw specialist garage servicing.. the work will generally be more thorough too

just my opinion, good luck mate

cheers ash

only reason i was told to look out for FASH as it would mean the water pump would have been done at same time as the cambelt?

obviously specialist places are much better and assume they would do this too?

If so im more than happy for a full service history not necessarily audi

Going to see one tomorrow locally, details below - garage so slightly more than its worth but will see if i can knock it down a bit.

Maybe, but there are exceptions, and of course arguments against not taking it to a dealer. I always take mine to a main dealer due to the fact that I get a brand new audi courtesy car. I don't class myself as knowing nothing about my S3, and more often than not, they've listened to me when I've diagnosed the problem myself.

Admittedly, the bills are never cheap, but nor has the levels of service or knowledge shown by the staff that work there. In reality, I never bought an S3 and planned to run it on a tight budget.

listers_socks, be careful too - do not assume that just because the cambelt has been changed that the water pump has been changed - it has to be specifically asked for.

ok will do - when is the cambelt and water pump meant to be changed on them?

Forgot to add that price at garage is 11,995 for that car spec and its a 51 plate - how much more am i looking at rather than buying same spec privately?

Looks good from pics and im assured its in excellent condition, no dings, dents or stone chips so just wondering what private values would be for equivalent. It does have private plate which is probably worth a bit (S3 JBO) and considering my nickname is Jimbo im wondering if its meant to be

I bought mine in December, 51 plate 66K miles with Audi and specialist servicing with QST, with a receipt for the cambelt/waterpump fitted.
Ideally you want one re-mapped too

FOOOKIN HELL!!
You want to try knocking more than a bit off mate! lol

I got full main dealers service history on mine (done 70k) and the belt hasnt been done yet, but audi say 5 years on 70,000 miles whichever comes first.. wierd!

Here's a question, I'm just wondering how much I'd get for my S3, it's in pretty good condition, but in no way perfect being honest, it's had a new engine (at 63,000) and all the suspension has been replaced and powerflex bushes where they work etc. just had the cambelt done and has been serviced much more often than required since the engine rebuild. No stamped service history but piles of receipts. Overall it's done 115,000 and is a 2000 APY car. (has facelift and original rear lights and facelift badges). Oh and it's yellow with yellow interior.

ETA- Service history was no expense spared and at Audi until the new engine, since then it's been AmD, APS or Fontain / me changing the oil with rather expensive motul stuff.
