3.0 tdi 218 failure. Help!

You have my sympathy, that's all very unfortunate and I can only begin to imagine how sickening you must find the situation. Clearly a 30k repair just isn't worth it as there are plenty of B9 3.0tdi A4 Avants available secondhand for 20k or less.

I think key to any outcome is understanding cause of failure. That will determine if Audi UK are likely to consider any good will towards repair. The issue you have is that if they can point to the work done by the independent changing the injector as contributing then you may be out of luck there.

Next option could be to get an independent report on the failure. You may then be able to go back to Audi for good will if it rules out the injector but If it was the injector change that caused the damage and then you would have to make a claim against the garage that did that work. That is not going to be an easy route as you'd have to get legal advice and there could be doubt over the true cause.

I assume that you are already facing part of the £3600 bill from the Audi dealer for the strip down but you will now be throwing good money after bad. The cheapest outcome is likely sourcing a replacement engine from a breakers yard and getting that fitted instead. If VW finance have an interest in the car though you may need to clear that first depending on their terms and conditions. You may also be able to find a specialist that can rebuild your engine for far less than Audi but again, I don't know if you need to clear the finance with VW first.

Audi uk aren’t interested and no goodwill is offered. They are interested however in the way that my local Audi have gone about things and the way they have left my engine open to elements for over 3 weeks now. Audi finance are suggesting the wrong oil has been used at service as that this is very premature given the full Audi history. I’ve recorded all calls too. When the car was took into Audi it ran and never missed but not sure if it will now. So. Going in for a bottom end knock to big bills, further issues , and a half stripped engine that I’d expect a dodgy pikey to do in a horse box. Not very vorsprung eh! The job card doesn’t add up either!!
