My mark 2 TTS was my last manual (short shift too & slick for an Audi). Really enjoyed that car.

Without starting the old manual vs auto debate lol would you go back to manual. Personally I can't find myself going back. I've had three A3's now and all have been DSG. A great combo I think with the way traffic is these days.

Agreed ... but there are days when it would be nice to take a manual out for a blast

Mods, I know this not the place to post non S3 topics, but I just wanted to share this with fellow posters who might be interested.

Dougie's after Xmas pressie to himself....A Sony XBR 55" 4K UHD HDR Oled Telly and forgot to turn off a small light that is reflected on the screen. Amazing picture quality and after 100 hours of burn in I will calibrate it.

Exterior definitely not, interior possibly. All they needed to do was some nice tweaks an extra 20 or bhp and they’d be laughing.

That Astra 16 plate kicked the bucket 3 days ago ....engine blew repairs cost more than the car is worth...neighbors now has a hire car.

Picked up a 65 inch OLED just before Xmas, picture quality is amazing. It’s like seeing HD for the first time again

Couldn't live with a oled in fear of the burn in plus l was in the market for 75 " or over screen oled too risky...so l got a Sammy 75 Q90r so l dont need to worry pausing Netflix and walking out the room for 10 minutes lol

They're a good bit cheaper than they where a year ago mate but there is always a slight chance of screen burn but have a fantastic picture great for darker rooms though

They have been on my radar for a few months now. Going to have a proper looksee when we can. My boy has a habit of pausing his and our main tv quite often so maybe not the best thing to go for at the moment lol

Got a LG C8 77” two years ago and no burn in whatsoever ... incredible tv.

Picked up a C10 48” over Xmas fir another room and equally impressed.

only burn worry mate is if you leave for hours on end or game heavily with static logos ... neither of which I do.

Bought mine from Richer sounds which comes with a free 6 year warranty, which includes cover for any burn in. If it’s going to happen it will certainly happen within the warranty period.

Bedsides this was only an issue with the first generation of OLEDs anyway, new panels have been tested to over 100,000 hours without suffering any burn in.

I was going for the Samsung QLED until I watched both sets playing side by side, it was like watching HD vs SD again.

It’s not with the latest generation sets, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

PMSL !
It's a ****** shame really . Going back 5-6 years ago the 8v forum was buzzing with excitement with new purchases.
It was a good time on this forum. Had many a good laugh with some great people many gone but there are still some left on here.

Hopefully the ‘buzz’ will come back with the face lift when the myriad of issues / dislikes are addressed.

As for tv’s mate, I’m firmly in the oled camp but the Samsung Qled’s are superb too, particularly if you are a gamer or are putting the tv in a bright room.

Will have a look at the Samsung. Cheers buddy
The main gripes on the 8v forum from memory were the water pump and haldex issues.
Seems the main issues from the get go on the 8y are electrical. Like you said hopefully they will sort them out soon??

I also read Samsung are dropping QLED in favour of a new tech called mini led in an effort to compete with OLED, as they are aware themselves there is no comparison.

I am a home cinema buff myself, I am running a lot of similar kit to yourself in my home cinema room, but I run KEF speakers.

My OLED looks really well mounted to the wall, the 2020 model I bought is about as thick as a sheet of paper, its crazy.

I run a NAS system for all my movies, they are all full 4k .mkv formatted files.

Some tasty kit you have there @jassyo06
and you too @Chris4410

I'm similar to you both and have a cinema sound set up in the front room with amp & B&W speakers / sub.
As you say Chris, when mounted on the wall, the OLED's look superb - if anything that is the worrying part wall mounting as the screens are so thin
I've also got a 4k blu ray player and nvidia shield and agree top line 4k material looks incredible.
I bought the LG C8 just over 2 years ago and it still impresses me today which is testament to just how good these tv's are.
The 48" C10 I bought just before Christmas is fantastic too.
We have one room in the house which does get a lot of light so planning to get a new Samsung for that at some point.

Looks like we all share an interest in cars as well as tv's

That lot went straight over my head lol I'm quite content to just have a decent picture. I totally see where you lot are coming from though. Having a home cinema set up and being able to have it to the max must be awesome.
