I took a punt and bought some dynamic wing mirror indicators from Aliexpress !

SHORT VERSION
They look cool and seem to be good quality and easy to install!

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Kib...222.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.54fe4c4dRkt2Jc

They were £48.43 for the pair plus £10.30 for shipping and took 3 Days to arrive from China and were well packaged and came with a free spludger !

I chose they kind of randomly but they seem to be the ones which are made up of lots of LEDs so the pattern is much smoother.

They are good quality and fit (except one of the connectors seems to be broken but I think this is a mould issue as most of the other versions on Aliexpress have the same fault and it does not effect the seating of the connector) , they seem to be moulded from an original part, but in a dark smoke instead of clear plastic.
This hides the fact that they are a strip of LEDs instead of one LED and a light pipe like the original part, this does lead to my one criticism of the part, that you can't see when you have left your indictor on in the wing mirror anymore .

Instalation

Tools
Small flat Blade screwdriver
T10 screwdriver
plastic spludger or trim removing tool

1. Pry off the wing mirror glass using a plastic tool. Insert it behind the glass on the outside edge. You will have to use some force and there are snapping noises but nothing should break =)

2. Remove the connectors for heated glass and auto dimming if fitted from the glass.

3. Remove wing mirror cap. There are 2 tabs which need to be un clipped use the small flat blade screwdriver. Then the cover can be pulled off. You may need to pry it off from the top seam using a trim removal tool.

4. If fitted remove connector for side assist from the mirror cap.

5. Remove the connector from the indicator. At this point i suggest you test both indicators before going any further .

6. The indicator is held in place by 2x T10 screw and plastic tabs. Remove the 2 screws (they are the same size). Then using the small flat head unclip the indicator .

7. Install the dynamic indicator it should just clip into place and test !

8. Put it all back together in reverse. (I found the mirror cap tricky to reinstall but this may be due to the fact that I got pattern caps when I had side assist retrofitted). Repeat in mirror for the other side =)

Thoughts

They seem bright and smooth.

I think they look cool and were easy to fit with no permanent modifications to the car.

My car has the full LED package including Matrix LED so I have both Dynamic front and rear indicators, because of this I do not think the dynamic wing mirrors look out of place.

Pointless in my opinion who is really going to notice the tiny light on a door mirror housing cascading instead of flashing but each to their own

Looks well but for me it's too much fannying about for not much gain.

It's the kind of post where replies will show who's using indicators a lot and who is an ex BMW driver.

Love it. Especially with your light package. As you say, they might look a bit out of place with normal indicators but unsure till someone makes a video of them in action.

We’ve a BMW 1 series sat on the driveway also so depending on which I drive depends on the indicating haha.

That’s the beauty of modifications Jassy

Does anyone know if there is a kit for Dynamic front lights for the non matrix lights?

Thank you for this post! I was interested in these too since they are so cheap, good to know they come out well!

Also known as a waste of money.... Lol

lol can be, I don't mind the mirrors tbh but I probably wouldn't get them. I've got the carbon mirror caps an changed the red on the badge to blue, that'll about do me.

Thanks for posting this. I've fancied these as the light pipe on the wing mirrors aren't great in my opinion. I was concerned that these lights wouldn't be in-sync with the dynamic indicators on the front and that's the only reason I haven't bought a set. After seeing your video I'm going to order them up.

Little tip.

You can remove the wing mirror cap with removing your glass.

On the top of the outer edge, between the black plastic and mirror put a credit card or thin plastic prying tool. Move it slowly to the door, you will hear a click. When you hear the second click (towards the door side) your mirror cap is loose

You need to remove the glass to get access too the screws holding in the indicator =)

You can access them after removing the cap. It changed my indicators with the factory fitted when retrofitting side assist.

This one is hidden by the glass ? =)

This one by the mirror cap.

Hmm will look for the photo's i made with the retrofit. I only remember that it was really easy to do.

I saw them but thought the black version looked better. Especially if you have black or dark mirrors.

I have the clear version on mine but ended up spraying it smoke... The clear isn’t OEM like clear, it’s more transparent and can see the LEDs. But the black version IMO is too dark so it worked out pretty good for me.

Just installed them today. The left one seems to fire quicker than the right... More like the right light stays on the final LED for a split second longer where the left one finishes the line then turns off immediately. Doesn't look good when hazards are on but probably isn't noticeable otherwise. Maybe I didn't push the connector in properly.

Did you buy the same ones as me ? There are quite a few different versions that look very similar sold by different people. I haven't noticed any issues like you.

I doubt a badly seated connector would cause that kind of problem, but probably worth a go to reseat them .

This is what mine looks like with the hazards all seem to be in time

Yeah so my driver side is like yours but the left side ends right away and stays dark. I'll take a video tomorrow. Hopefully reseating the connector works!

So today I installed the frosted/clear version again bought from Aliexpress.

They were £56.17 they avalible here :

They seem to be better quality then the smoked ones, but only because there is no mold defect.

They are brighter but not quite a colour match to the factory indicators, they do however have an led that can be seen in the mirror to indicate the indicator is active.

Videos below

One of each (passenger side is frosted/clear, drivers side is smoked)

Both frosted/clear

I prefer the frosted/clear and will be keeping them, if only because of the indicator indicator =)

I will be posting the smoked set for sale shortly PM me if you are interested.

Just installed a pair myself. Guide was super useful, thanks. Found out a slightly quicker method when doing it myself;

- Position mirror glass facing inwards to the car, then pull the glass out with your fingers. Support the top as to not flex the glass
- Using a trim remover, pop up the mirror casing from the back of the car, the corner closest to the door. Should pop off really easily
- Unplug the indicator (push the cable clip in with your thumb, and pull the plug out)
- Remove the two screws for the indicator
- Using a trim remover (or flat head screwdriver), push the clip closest to the largest side of the indicator away from it. This will let you pull the indicator up, and push the remaining tabs away.

Took roughly 20 minutes to install them both and would probably take even less time if I had to do it again.

When pushing the casing back into the mirror I slid the top in first, then the bottom just clicks in. Make sure the corners are clicked too.

Will fitting these invalidate my warranty in any way?

Fit these and the Audi Warranty Police will come and take your car away from you.

Be prepared.

I doubt it mate they seem to take the policy of if it’s related to somthing you changed they won’t cover it ....

and a cheeky my smoked pair are still for sale PM me if your interested =)

I like them. My A3 has standard halogen indicators with the indicator also in the mirror. Would these still be comparable with my car. Also while we are on the subject of indicators is there anything to be gained by fitting LED bulbs to replace the standard Halogen bulbs that are fitted.

Thanks in advance

They are only available as a retrofit for the wing mirror indicators . If you wanted to add the dynamic indicators to the headlights you would have to retrofit Matrix LED units and sensors and a camera a very expensive endeavour .....

If you do a search there are lots of threads about replacing halogen bulbs with LED, I believe there is also someone on here who sells complete kits for the car you have....

I wouldn’t go down the route of a full led lighting install but was thinking of replaceing the halogen indicator bulb with a Led bulb. But not sure what would be gained.

I had a search about for the wing mirror dynamic lights and it should just be a straight forward swap.

Has anyone fitted these? Got a 2009(59) S3 and want to know if the kit (attaches below) is any good, is it oem bright? Does it still have the little dot of light on inside of the wing mirror to show you if it’s on or not?

You'll want to head over to the 8P forum, I don't believe the 8V indicators will fit an 8V.

Sorryif I missed it, where do you get the indicator lights from for this? Also will it work on a B9.5 A5 Sportback (2021MY) ?
