Having lived in the village of Maybole for 27 years now, it's been frustrating having to suffer this bottleneck for so long. The A77 is the main trunk road from Cairnryan/Stranraer for the ferry traffic from Northern Ireland.
Such a problem that recently the A77 through Maybole was the first trunk road to have a 20 mph speed limit imposed on it.

The narrow pavements are treacherous for anyone with a pram/buggy!
Meeting lorries at the Smithston railway bridge is always interesting especially when there's another artic coming the other way, there's been a few lorry incidents there.
