intermittent starting problem

Hi I'm new to this forum just looking for some advice I have a 2000 audi a3 1.6 with an intermittent starting problem where the engine will turn over but not fire. It only happens when the engine is hot also when hot it's a bit lumpy on tick over any advice please? thanks

Do a diagnostic scan to see what comes up? Usual culprits are crank sensor, coolant temp sensor, airflow sensor.

Cheers for reply I have a problem where the person I bought the car off butchered the radio wiring to fit an aftermarket stereo and took out the k line so no diagnostics work unfortunately, I have put a new maf sensor on will try the other two sensors and see what happens.

i had the same problem replaced the crank sensor (£25) all fixed
