Hello All,
My a3 Tdi doesnt seem right to me,

Between my gear changes the revs seem to raise when the clutch is pressed! say if im at 2000rpm and change gear the RPMS raise between gear changes! surely this cant help the clutch. At the minute im having to change gear by releasing the accelerator for a second or 2 before pressing the clutch..
The clutch is NOT slipping at all.
Also ive checked for a clutch switch and my car doesnt seem to have one.

can anyone help?

Thanks
Dave

If I remember correctly (please read that as a huge caveat), modern fly-by-wire engines are designed to sometimes hold or raise the revs a little on gear changes, to help burn off excess fuel and reduce emissions.

I used to have a Civic Type R and test drove the new model, I drove it the exact same way and found that on every gear change the revs were shooting up.

If it's happening all the time then I would suggest that something else may be the cause. Hopefully someone else with a 170 TDi will be able to give more info on their experiences.
