18" or 19" wheels

Depends on your definition of low profile I guess, but I'd consider the 18s low profile as well (40 aspect ratio, with most people/manufacturers considering less than 50 aspect ratio as low profile).

"Low profile tyres have a shorter sidewall or a lower aspect ratio than normal tyres. They also have larger tread blocks, a stiffer, wider apex and can be made from specialised compounds. Generally a tyre with a 50 aspect or less is considered to be low profile."

Could be an interesting ride with those tyres on 19" alloys.

I had 20" with 30 profile on my S5 and the ride was never bone jarring so I would hope the 19s on the A4 would be at least as good.

I've been told by my local tyre centre that with spirited driving, 19" tyres will only last about 9000 miles whereas 18" will probably do 50% more.

Anyone have experience of this?

That's no ordinary suspension and so it shouldn't be on an S5 to make a good ride of two compounding adverse effects of 20" and 30 aspect ratio , who are the oem's ?

Obviously depends on tyres, on my B8 I used to get 20k front and 35k rear on PS3's and I drive "spiritedly"
I would expect more if only a little more from the B9 as the (newer) chassis ought to make a difference.

What make of tyre was that? Pilot Sports? Were they grippy?

Yeah pilot sport 3's, they were awesome dry or wet - tried them back to back with assy 2's and the michelins were notably better across the board.

Which conflicts very slightly with the biggest pool of tyre reviews known to man .

Well the assy 2's would break traction easily in second in the wet when the ps3's didn't, this was based on running them back to back - the michelins when worn had better wet grip than the goodyears ever did.
And not just 1% better in my opinion (as the reviews state)

Hi

Some of these posts are a bit old now and was wondering the best way to get hold of a set of 19inch OEM wheels for my SLine... Happy to PX my mint 18in and Pirellis if its sensible? Any ideas?
