frosted tail lights

I've just ordered some new replacement inner rear tail lights for my 2006 Sportback. The original ones have faded quite badly and polishing didn't help. I was wondering what other people's experience of replacing the lights has been. I assume a like-for-like swap is straightforwrd? Has anyone...
