    Ultimate/Final 8P Oil Thread

VW 507.00 spec is a must on CR engines with DPF. I'm using Castrol Edge 5W30 personally.

    8P1, 8P2 or 8P3?

@samisnake is correct. @henkkeumus please edit your post mate because we don't need any more confusion about this topic. :D

2.0 TDI BKD - Blue smoke on startup with clicking sound

No problem mate! If you manage to find out what is causing this, post here as it might help someone in the future (and I am very curious as this was the very reason I sold the car!) :grinning:

2.0 TDI BKD - Blue smoke on startup with clicking sound

Unfortunately I have never found out what used to cause these issues on my car. I sold the car about 10 days after making this thread. :(

Audi a3 2005 2.0 tdi bkd sticky Clutch

Mine was the main bearing in the gearbox as well, mechanic fixed it by inserting something into the gearbox, I assume what the guy in the video above did.

I assumed he made a mistake and wanted to write 2004 because this is 8P subforum.

audi a3 2.0 tdi bkd coolant leak

Read the above posts. It's your cylinder head that's porous.

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/amc-complete-cylinder-head-for-2-0-16v-pd140-bkd-engine.html There you go. :) What I did, I took a used cylinder head from Passat B6 which had C revision and was BKD engine. Also took camshafts, valves and everything that goes inside the head...

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

Hi mate, I have found an old video of mine when my head was still bad. Here's the odd startup and a puff of smoke.

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

I had probably dozen of mechanics tell me it's not the head. Other symptoms would sometimes include a puff of white smoke on cold start and if I'd leave car standing for 2-3 days after a long journey (so the coolant was pressurised completely before turning the car off), I'd have odd startup...

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

I totally understand you mate, I went through it all a few years back. Replaced everything that could cause the leak and in the end removed the cylinder head and I had a crack to see. :(

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

Some of the B heads also crack unfortunately. When I replaced mine, I bought a C revision and had no problems afterwards.

A3 DPF warning or Sensor problem or map !

In order for DPF to function without getting clogged, all other systems need to be fully functional. What I mean by that is that if injectors are leaking, you'll get more soot, if timing is not spot on, you'll have more soot, etc. I would also look at these aspects of the engine as new DPF...

    coolant lose A3 2.0 TDI

Check your cylinder head revision (A, B or C). It is stamped on the head itself. If A, I assume you probably know where I am going with this.

A3 losing water - rough Water, Wa

Being a 2003, you're almost guaranteed your cylinder head has seen better days. Edit: To clarify, I'd be certain it's porous and leaking water into cylinder.

    Clutch limit

Shouldn't the clutch be the same on all non S models if gearbox is the same? If so, 2.0 TDI 8P can hold anywhere between 405 and 435Nm so I'd say you're perfectly fine with stage 1.

anyone got the latest engine ecu map/update for the BKD engine?

If I remember correctly, correct consumption reading while standing still should be 0.5 l/h, but don't take me for granted.
