I did this retrofit myself but it is some years ago now.
I documented it here: http://lightnings.dk/soundsystem_en.html
Not saying all information is there, but at least parts and connections are visible.
I did this myself but some time ago. I did follow this thread and these instructions. Mine is also a left hand drive since I am location in Denmark.

Buy them from Audi instead. I replaced the 1.4T with TFSI and it was 15€ at Audi.
You can find the part numbers here (12 on the list)

I got it in my website here: http://www.lightnings.dk/8P_en.html
It’s a quite large file so if the browser dies when trying to open the link, try and right click and choose ‘save as’ to download it.
A new cluster is not easy to install and program. I get so many messages about how I did it and who can help with it. A new cluster is easy but the cost is high.
I documented the retrofit here when I did it to my A3 8P: http://www.lightnings.dk/fis_en.html
After I purchased the “new” cluster...
I did this retrofit to my A3 8P. Most dificult thing is to find someone who can pass over the data from your exisiting cluster to the new one.
See my documentation of the retrofit here: http://www.lightnings.dk/fis_en.html
I had this done in the past. It is extremely difficult to find someone that can do this!
Auromatic should not make a difference, see me notes here: http://www.lightnings.dk/fis_en.html
I don't think it a problem with the fuse box as it is multiple things failing. As other have talked about and which I found out on my car was a problem with the terminal. See below post from earlier. One of your terminals could be defect.
Have you done any retrofits lately?
I had a guy installing fog lights on my car and he also replaced the Body Control Module. One of the terminals were wrongly placed and causing the problem.
After I retrofitted a RNS-E I tried selling my Concert radio but I never got the code. Bought the car 2nd hand.
Audi could only assist me if the radio was installed in the originl car and I should pay for 1 hour work. Ebay worked and much cheaper.
