Although it does have all the nice bits (votex and leather) Id say it was overpriced. Im not in the trade or owt but I would have thought it should have been closer to 11K.
Glass says it should have trade in value of 9Kish in excelent condition, I would have added 2k max to buy from trade...
There was a thread about this a while back. I noticed it on my AVJ 1.8T so did Juss and a few others.
I was a bit concerned about it and thought it was just my car but its nothing to worry about, their just noisy around that speed.
Mine was AVJ so was juss's so Im not sure if its just the...
I had the exact same leak on my old 1.8T. The part was cheap enough I think about £15 and the mechainc did do it from the top without having to take anthing off if I recall correctly although it was a tricky job.
Its just a plastic pipe that lets the coolant return from the engine. Theres a...
I know the feeling mate, thats why Ive just bit the bullet and bouught from a dealer. :( It pains me to do so but at least Im not gonna be panicking anymore every time I hear a little rattle. :)
They should have them in stock like as its a really common problem. Infact Im prety sure there was a recall on some of the earlier ones so it may be worth giving them a call and asking if yours were affected. All they should need is your reg.
Good luck
Its a very common problem mate. Does this sound familiar http://www.mylemon.com/VW_18T.html
Ive got 2 spare if you were up here you could have give them a shot to see if it was deffo that.
They have 4, but its probably only 1 thats gone. The best way is to VAG it and it will show a misfire on a certain cylinder, that will be the dead coilpack. The other way to do it is to just buy a new one, replace the first one, start the car if it runs ok that was the dead one, if not move onto...
I think something to point out is that my MPGs are just over half what Audi quote. Although its a great car to drive I might not have bought it if I was aware it was going to return 18mpg.
I can afford to have the car... but like to moan about it too :)
I recently worked mine out as 90 mile from £20 (22 litres approx) ron 95. That was just driving around the streets to work and back, mine is Quattro too.
Woot just worked that out and its about 18mpg.:(
Yeah the belt should have been done at around 60k I and could cost a bit to get done, you might want to take that into account when negotiating.
The price seems ok but Id deffo wait to see if the plug chage cures the missfire.
I would say not a coil. They would usualy have a lot worse symptoms than slight misfire, usualy a blinking CEL light.
Taking VAG with you when going to look at it is a good idea though. And as stated above it should idle a little higher when started from could, it should settle after a few...
