i think he may have meant cutting the physical upright part of the centre console in order to fit the double din cage correctly. The bit i actually thought i balls'd up and was going to need a new centre console lol.

I've just done the conversion myself at the weekend just gone and as JIMMYTDI says its the bit of trim behind the front ashtray, it needs cutting down just behind the clips on the underside that secure it to the car.

Bradderz im not to familiar with the 1.8t engines (mines a 1.9tdi) this is the OE number for the kit for your vehicle 06B 198 119 A so maybe check that against the kits your looking at.

Ive currently got AP's on mine, had them on for about 6 months now and having never had coilovers before im really impressed with them. The only thing i have noticed is that the rears dont go down that far (well as much as id like anyway.) other than that id happily recommend them.
