There's something to be said for badge snobbery - for example, I'd expect a VW or Audi to depreciate slower than a Ford, on average. Would you consider an older performance car? What are your requirements in your next car? I love this game... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Are you guys that take cars on lease or PCP allowed to modify them? I can never leave a car alone! Anything short of a hypercar is full of compromises - so I like to upgrade bits here and there. Not sure how it works on PCP/PCH? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DrEskimo talking a lot of sense. PCP has had a large impact on new car sales; 25% of all car sales a decade ago, and now 75%. If you really want a new car - PCP and PCH are good ways into one, without having all the capital available upfront. But, you should realise that in most cases you're...

I'm right in the middle: 35. Wife and 2 young kids, petrolhead, fortunate to earn a decent living, but drive a much older and cheaper wage than many on the same income would do...because as well as being a petrolhead, I'm a risk manager so I can never "man maths" myself into a new car PCP deal...

    Interesting reading on Carbon Cleaning

Ah gotcha. So you may not be aware, but the terraclean carbon clean service is also a hydrogen clean - different to their other fuel cleaning system (which will have no effect on carbon in the intake manifold). I'd not heard of pro - clean, but this seems to be a cleaner for disassembled parts...

I whole heartedly agree that a nice (perhaps new) car is a luxury that petrolheads are completely entitled to spend their hard earned cash on.choice of cars, and the money we (I) throw at them is sometimes bonkers. However - those are not the reasons many get a new car on PCP. I'd guess most...

    Interesting reading on Carbon Cleaning

If you are referring to hydrogen cleaning - I did try it, and tested thoroughly, and that's why I'm knocking it. I didn't just try it and use my "butt dyno" either - Before and after dyno runs (on the same dyno) - Before and after borescope images - Inlet manifold removed and inspected - Inlet...

DrEskimo! You're on here too? We just had a long debate on detailing world about this topic with a chap who loved lease deals, before the thread got deleted as he got a bit shouty/insulting to us guys. We gave him some examples of how much cheaper a slightly used car would be to a brand new one...

    Interesting reading on Carbon Cleaning

I can't speak for other engines, but the catch can idea has proved ineffective on the 4.2 V8 by those owners that have tried it. My "new tech not working" comment was directed at hydrogen cleaning, not direct injection, by the way. Actually- there is one other solution. Introducing forced...

    Interesting reading on Carbon Cleaning

The thing I've been pondering is whether water methanol injection would help, by "washing" the inlet valves in the same way the fuel/air mixture does in a non-FSI engine. I'm all for new tech. As long as it works [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Interesting reading on Carbon Cleaning

Ok here we go. So this is what my inlet manifold looked like when it was taken off, after the hydrogen clean. MRC commented on the fact there was oily gunk everywhere, which was unusual, and I needed a new breather pipe as it had become clogged - they think this was due to the hydrogen clean...
