Have a look at the Darkside Developments YouTube channel. They compared all of the the tuning boxes. iIRC they concluded that they were garbage after they stuck them all on the dyno and compared them.

Trade it in and just get another car. Give someone else the issue. I am sure £5k gets you into a better rather than fix the car you have.

Run a mile unless it has already been rebuilt. It really is not worth the agro unless you are buying from Audi. They seem to be squirming of late due to the number of rebuilds they are doing. If it does not have a full Audi history go and find another.

That would be telling !
Nothing much other than i shouldn't put up with it an take it back to Audi. TBH I am getting rid in the summer so really cannot be bothered with the aggro. I have the paperwork to say it has been fixed and rebuilt by Audi so should have any issue in moving it on if asked
Lots of stop start did it for me. I have had two oil tests. First one i racked all the miles up on the motorway in less than 2 weeks. It passed. 2nd one I gave it to the wife to sit on the M60 all morning and it failed.
What would you do then CHEZ. Dealer will not want to know.
I had it fixed (ahem!) at Audi Manchester and serviced of late at Stockport.
I think the dealer will just say do another consumption test and it will pass. I am sure Audi UK will just say within tolerance.
Same as mine
However I now get 2000 miles to a litre and technically this is within tolerance. I have not bothered going back to Audi. Just putting up with it and it does not seem to have got any worse.
Very much dependant on driving style. Lots of stop start traffic was the best for drinking oil. If your a motorway user the consumption was less in my opinion.

Mine took 3 weeks after dropping it off. Tbh they could have took 6 months over it as I was banging the miles on their A4 avant they gave me. I even went on holiday with it which was a boost for all the luggage a wife and two kids want to drag around Europe !

Piston rings mate. Also affects the 1.8tfsi. I had mine rebuilt at 32k
Still got the issue though. I would reject the car personally and get something else no matter who nice the car looks
Yup. Don't think I had the tensioners changed just Pistons only. TBH mine still churns though oil at a litre every 2k so as far as i am concerned I don't think it's fixed like the 2.0 boys on here. Car drives fine though. Just replaced my tailpipes with some cheapo Chinese ones off fleabag...
If you do get stranded and need to add oil (Audi won't come out ) video the evidence on your phone with the time and date and mileage with the oil light lit as proof. Add a measured quantity of oil and then ring Audi at the first opportunity you have to tell them and email the video.
Should be...
None of it is really sealed. They stick masking tape over the oil filler and a blob of white paint on the drain plug. I suppose they could tell if you purposely drained some oil out as the paint would've cracked. I could easily peel back the tape and add more oil if I wanted but I was praying...
