    AUTO SHINE West Yorkshire Review

Lovely finish, she looks great... I think I just realised how dirty my A3 really is :p Do you have any before pictures of the rest of the car?

    Cloth Cleaning

Use a cleaner which doesn't foam too much - otherwise it takes days to dry and can start forming mildew/growing mould. Whatever you use, use it sparingly for the same reason as above. Chemical Guys Fabric cleaner is pretty good - a couple of light sprays, scrub fairly gently with a medium brush...

    Cleaning Advice

If you can remove it with blu-tack, a decent shampoo should have removed it. Blu-tack will get rid of slightly stubborn insect marks etc, but it won't remove properly attached tar etc.

    Cleaning Advice

I like AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection, because it's quick, easy and seems to last fairly well. It's not the most glossy around, but it's not bad. The CueBall's suggestion of a clay bar is a decent one, but I'd save it until you've got the main wash down - claying takes quite a while...

You'd be better off asking over on detailingworld, mate - this forum is useful for basic discussion or audi-specific questions, but there aren't that many of us on here and even fewer professional detailers. DW is the main detailing community, so I imagine you'll have a lot more joy over there...

    Wash, clay and wax.

It's an expensive hobby, but it gets a little cheaper once you've bought everything. I found that I've probably spent £500 in total on kit and products, which seems like a lot: but things like the buckets and pressure washer will last a long time, as will several of the products which I only...

    Car seams greasy

Usually means that either you've put too much polish/wax/sealant on it, or that you've not given one of them time to cure properly (not usually a problem in winter) or haven't removed them properly. I tend to find it's a combination of putting too much on, and not removing properly (it's quite...

    Cleaning Advice

Shampoo I use chemical guys - they did a special charity one on detailing world, but it's much the same as their normal one. Lifts everything off nicely, just a little elbow grease needed for insect splats. I'm not familiar with their polish - check if it's just a filler (it won't be a proper...

    matte wheel cleaner and sealant?

Chemical Guys Diablo Gel cleaner seems superb on my black edition wheels - it's non-caustic so won't gloss up your wheels and seems pretty effective to me. £7ish a bottle, dilute 1/10 and it lasts me abut 10-15 goes round the car at somewhere between 10 and 20p a wheel. Spray on with a spritz...

    Ibis S3 withWerkstat acrylic pics

Looking at it in the proper light, you definitely get more of a wet look. Reflection is about the same, but the werkstat makes it look like there's a really thick clear coat which I like. Think I'm going to have to get a set once my EGP runs out.

    Product for cleanring window seals.

Get a few detailing tips (or just some biggish q-tips) for cleaning gunk out from between seal and window. AutoGlym rubber and vinyl protect seems to be great for my seals in terms of keeping them clean and having a nice black to them, although I've no idea whether it will prevent mould buildup...

    Microfibre drying towel..........

Hosepipe ban AND water that leaves crap on your car... it's grim down south.

    Microfibre drying towel..........

I've just got a blue one I picked up from Halfords I think. About 1/4 of the size of the bonnet and is just about perfect for the A3. I dry all the main panels with it and then use smaller MF cloths to clean the door shuts and get any little bits I missed. I don't really buy into the £10 towel...

thoughts on product and new technique lol

It may well be a combination of the wax/sealant you use and your cleaning regime, or that you brake in a way which doesn't produce as much crap from the brakes.

    Ibis S3 withWerkstat acrylic pics

I don't mean to compare e-penises, but unless your photos aren't doing it justice, I'd swear I get better results than this using AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection (at about 1/6th the cost...) The roof looks great, but that's black and glass so not really comparable. I'm sure I get better...

    New delivery...

4 weeks? I reckon you'll clear another £100 of product by then. Microfibres, microfibres, microfibres. It's impossible to have too many.

what is your favourite product and why?

CG Diablo Wheel Cleaner - zero effort for great results. Spray liberally (30 seconds), rinse with hose (10 seconds), wipe with noodle wash mitt. Job done, and it works out at max 50p per wheel if I'm not stingy on dilution, and can get away with about half that. AG Fast Glass - I like my car to...

    help with cleaning my windscreen!!

Make sure you wash your glass last - I made the mistake of washing my glass before washing which looked fine at the time, but the shampoo left a nice layer of residue on the windscreen and wipers which smeared when I next had a few drops of rain - survivable if you hit a big rainstorm as the...

    Cheap detailing products!

That is pretty good. As someone on DW was saying recently, their chemists are as good as any, and most of the big brands have quite a high markup. Where did you get it from?

Cheapest temporary protection/cleaning equipment, techniques and routine?

Ah okies - I just sprayed a small-medium area, rubbed the clay on it and then microfibre'd it off... only thing I want to know is whether there's any risk of damage if I leave it on, and whether it's okay to get it on trim etc? I'm guessing no to both, but I went with better safe than sorry as...
