Yep, the Halfords one just needs a little of the handle taken off but works fine.

Noticed a rattling noise from beneath the car, started to panic slightly but had a look tonight and one of the heat shields has corroded around the bolts. Managed to get it off. Does anyone know whether you can run your car without it or is it not a good idea? Any rough ideas on the price?

Could be a clogged fuel filter. Easy enough to change.

I do find this amusing as the Americans busy themselves getting rid of the same things.

Picked it up on Friday. Didn't charge me any extra either. I haven't properly inspected but they've done the whole roof, which is nice as it had a nasty scratch. I do wonder if they ever fixed this problem as I only caught it with 2 more years on the body corrosion warranty left.

An update: Car was due out on Monday (in for a week), they then found more corrosion so had to re-prep. Expected to pick up next week. In the meantime I have a strangely coloured Renault to drive around in.

Yes, after an accident the insurance company chose a non-Audi dealer who fitted and resprayed a new wing. 3.5 years on it started to rust horrendously. Turns out it wasn't a genuine wing so bought a second hand one off ebay and did a deal with the bodyshop who cleaned it and resprayed it...

The MOT thing is a red herring, they all say that.

All makes have their problems e.g. BMW have cam chain problems. Jury is still out whether the oil pump shaft issues hamper B8 models. I suspect they fixed it on 2010 cars. Why not go for an A3 sportback?
