andymac, agreed a refund on the 9850...and ordered a unit with 3 RCA's as its replacement. So hopefully should be all OK now...... Thanks mate :respekt:

thanks andymac, although the alpine doesnt have any front and rear RCA's!! Well I dont think so anyway.....its a 9850Ri - the i-pod connector model. I used to have a head unit years ago that had 3 pre-outs...front, rear and sub...is this what I need? the spec of the alpine is as follows: 50W...

Been trying to fit a alpine I-pod head unit into my 01 S3 with limited success! I have ordered all the gear I need (or thought I did...) from caraudiodirect.com, which consisted of head unit, a3 facia adaptor (which was the wrong one - end caps were to small for the dash), wiring harness...

placed a bid on a replacement unit on ebay...think the unit is past its sell by date. volume was a bit iffy anyway!

Tried two audi dealers for these (one wanted £50, the other £20)...been told I should be able to obtain this for free. Any ideas?

I bought it from a garage, so wont be able to contact the old owner until the log book comes through. Then I can only write to him, and cross my fingers for a reply!

the cd changer is working fine...it comes out of all the speakers except the sub. got the bass turned up full, and no thump what so ever. and now i've put it in safe mode....

steve....all the connectors are plugged in and seem to be connected to something else..ie they dont seem free. I'll nip outside take a photo and post it up

Been told they could run off the same fuse. Is this the case, or something more serious? Dead annoying! Only got the car yesterday, reckon the guy before me had a DVD flip out screen in the front (there are 2 screens in the back) and has ******** it up somehow. All the connectors are plugged...
