Four years ago the thermostat failed on my two year old 1.8TFSI. Fortunately under warranty as the cost then was £680, so your quoted price would seem about right.
But what indication do you get if the thermostat fails open? My car was picked up by trailer to return to dealer, I was told on no account the car should be driven.
Thermostat was always situated in a domed cupola held on by three nuts on the top of the cylinder head closest to the radiator. Still fitted to cars up to the early 2000's. Last one I fitted to the wife's mini late 90's and if my memory serves me well think I paid about £1.60. Ten minute job...
Four years ago the thermostat failed open on my two year old A3 1.8tfsi. The only indication I had of the problem was the water temp gauge which is replaced by the "Boost" gauge on the S3. Should this problem arise with my present car I would be in the dark. The thermostat was replaced under...
Many thanks for that very useful info. More interested in the inspection service as Audi allow you to reset the oil warning on the MMI for some reason. Notice that facility is not available on the wifes S1 of the same year. Have ordered an OBDeleven from Amazon which seems a good price of £42.99...
Do you have the basic OBDeleven or OBDeleven Pro? Basic seems to be about £60 and the Pro £90. Now the big question that nobody seems to know, but as an owner guess you are a safe bet:yes: ------ will it reset the Inspection Service warning?
Inputted my details and it informed me the "free" edition would enable me to get free basic OBD2 diagnostics and free Basic Service. When checking, the "free" basic service will not even allow me to reset the Inspection Service light which I would have thought is about as basic as you can get.
Here is a perfect example of my confusion. Just received a reply to my query to Carista a couple of days ago:
Glenn (Query) "Will the Carista app allow me to reset my Inspection Service warning please?"
Answer " Thanks for writing. No sorry. That's a paid feature. If you want to reset the...
Absolute basic use, at some time in the future I will be doing my own servicing and just want the facility of resetting my Inspection Service warning. Just need something very basic so if you can recommend an alternative that will do the job that would be great. There is a piece of equipment...
Thanks for the info. Slightly put off by the Carista as one U Tube vid really slates it. The other negative for me is the yearly cost for very little use. Take your point about the free month, but there again a couple of reports complain of not receiving the free use!!
Have any forum members any experience of either the above diagnostic scan tools? I have checked Google and UTube and frankly I'm confused. Are these devises capable of resetting the Inspection Service warning after a service? Have contacted a few sellers of these items and every answer has...
Couldn't agree more, but the point I was trying to get across was that Audi's reason for the delay is due to high demand and "enormous customer interest". I would suggest they may just be economical with the truth.
So much so that I am in touch with a dealer pending placing an order. Had one dealer quote me a twenty week lead time for these though -----getting so hacked off with the whole business I may just stick with my 63 plate 1.8 A3
Having been informed by Ingolstadt that no three door hatch will be coming down the assembly line for nine months due to "enormous customer interest" --I imagined a conversation between Rupert Stadler CEO, and Head of Sales.
H. of S.: Great news my CEO, we have enormous customer interest in our...
