Providing the car is maintained and serviced to the manufacture guidelines, it should last the lifetime of the engine.
Not sure what belt the app is referring to but the EA888 engine is used across multiple models within VW group and it’s definitely chain driven.

Yeah I’ve had times when I’ve gone to the dealers and their own service advisors don’t know if it’s chain driven and then tell me that I need a belt change.

You said you’ve changed the exhaust cam sensor, have you looked at the inlet cam adjuster? That was the issue on mine.
