I'm such a vag tart.. it started many years ago something like this.. everything from 3 banger A2's to V8 S6's..
1996 Audi B5 A4 2.6
2001 Audi A4 B6 1.9 Tdi 130bhp
2003 VW Bora 1.8T sport
2001 Audi A4 B6 avant 1.9 tdi sport
2000 Audi S6 C5 4.2 V8
2003 Audi A4 B6 2.0 sport
2003 Audi A2 1.4 TDi...
I'm on my 4th B6, great motors are getting cheaper by the year.. I always stay within the VAG stable.. agreed as above, they will always look classy and with subtle led light upgrades etc they can look more modern.. better built than the newer ones too!!
It's not that cheap for all that's wrong with it.. It would need to be a good bit cheaper to make it worth your while.. Do you have access to VCDS? sometimes the roof just needs a manual reset and clear of the error codes.. also windows could just be a simple switch..
My choice would be a 1.9 Tdi 130bhp.. will go on forever if serviced and handiest on fuel.. I have had a 1.8T, 1.9 100bhp, 1.9 130bhp, 2.0 petrol and 4.2 V8.. 130bhp everytime for me..
PS.. 130's never gave great mpg 38-42 (I have owned 3 cars with this engine), best was the 100bhp I had in a...
Of course it can.. My brothers 1.9Tdi MK2 golf did me over in a 320bhp 2.7 S4 the other night.. I also used to give him a hard time with my 130bhp (with two tuning boxes) in his ST220 3.0 mondeo..
yeah, swapped them over and took it back the next night.. I complained to the DVLA and they refunded me the £18.50 re-test fee.. not too bad.. LED's back in now... I bought a set of Philips xtreme whites but they were awful looking.. pure yellow.. back to nice white now..
I'm based in Northern Ireland so our MOT centres are government run. Although got a re-test tonight and took a bulb with me, fella said it shouldn't of failed!!! so passed tonight with halogen bulbs installed..
PS.. I will be selling my 3 week old bulbs and error cancellers for £20 if anyone...
Just as an update. my car failed MOT tonight with the LED bulbs in.. tester failed it saying they were HID's.. no talking to him!! so halogens back in for retest..
Do you have access to VCDS? is it throwing any error codes? look for leaks in all the small vacuum pipes and see if you can find anything.. agreed that a OEM DV will be fine..
Got the error cancellers fitted, I actually left them outside the headlight and pulled the wires through the whole left for the HID's.. will keep them for the time being..
I fitted mine, just guessed the black 12v wire and worked fine.. I would say the light output isn't great.. not as good as my HID kit... agree that the heat sink is tight to the back of the light too.. might go back to HIDS.. as the A4 lights are awful!!
Thanks, where have you installed the cancellors? are they inside the headlights? I currently have a 20mm hole in the rear of the light to feed to HID wire through, so may leave that open to help dissipate the heat..
Just ordered a set of the above.. as my HID's are about 10 years old and not lighting every time and throwing bulb errors.. will see how they compare..
I have been going back and forward with the ebay sellar regarding the adapter cable. He said mine is a fully amped system.. which I think makes sense as my door speakers aren't working either. he said I need the CT53-AU04 cable but it's listed for BOSE, which mine does not have.. unless all...
