best supplier of heated mirror glass?

Would second the eBay route. I purchased a new one from GSF, but it just refused to work, as did the replacement. I purchased a pair of used genuine ones off eBay, and they worked fine.

OK so I bought a 1.8T & got the Oil Pressure Warning. Oil pump job in the pipeline!

If the oil filler cap is hard to get off, doesn't that suggest a vacuum rather than pressure? One thing I've learnt about the B6 is that you can often be looking at two separate faults at once, and they may be related, or they may not. It could be that the sludge has blocked the breather...

    Wing damage whilst in garage?

Unfortunately, that looks like rust has been eating away and lifting the paint, then as soon as the area has been disturbed as part of moving the front bumper to the service position, the paint has flaked off. As said, it is a very common area for rust to develop on a B6, mine did the same and...

    Oil Pick up pipe Sludge

To save a trip to the dealer, Halfords stock the larger oil filter for 1.8T's too, it's listed in their on shelf catalogue as a 2001 1.8T AVJ engine code part. GSF also stock them, part number 120VG0560. As for flushing, no, I wouldn't risk it. It was doing that to my 1.8t that blocked my pick...

    Quattro reliability..

I'm sure that some of them must have failed over the years, but it's not a common fault as far as I know. My own car is on 147000 and fingers crossed the gearbox/quattro drivetrain are fine. Of all the things to worry about on a high mileage A4 B6, I would think the quattro drivetrain is way...

Fullrun tyres - a word of warning.

My A4 had a set of Maxxis MA P1's (think that's what model they were anyway) when I purchased it, and they were a pretty good all round tyre. Not especially grippy in the dry, but not deadly in the wet either, and cleared through standing water very well. Ive got Bridgestone Potenza's on it...

    coolant temperature gauge not working.

If you didn't have the heating problem too, then I'd suggest a faulty gauge. The heating and lumpy idle could be unrelated of course. You should be able to source a cluster of eBay and salvage the temp gauge from it. Worth a try, but otherwise thermostat is where I'd be looking.

    coolant temperature gauge not working.

Could be just a faulty gauge, but with the lumpy running and the non-warm air through the vents, I'd be thinking thermostat. They are not expensive, but a bit of a fiddle to fit. What were the diagnostic tests that your mate did? On Vag-Com/VCDS, the instrument check sends all the gauges...

    Serious problem with engine AVJ

Sorry to hear all this, it sounds like a whole heap of trouble! First off, is it a well known garage to you? Did they do all the work they said they would? My first port of call would be them. Ask them to recover your car and have a look at it as the problem remains. Second, you could be...

    Few pics now it's lowered

Looks good Alan, I'm a big fan of not going too low! It's amazing how much better it looks just a bit lower than stock... :icon_thumright:

1.8t Oil Change and using an engine flush what do you guys think?....

As somebody who flushed my newly acquired 1.8t about 18 months ago, I would advise not to do it! Mine dislodged loads of muck and it blocked the strainer within about 2 miles... Ok, the upshot was that I needed to get the pump and strainer replaced (I stopped driving immediately and the engine...

    Disks & pads

I've got Brembo discs and Pagid pads on mine, and my fronts have warped after 15,000, very disappointed. On my A3 I had a set of EBC grooved and dimpled pads and Ferodo DS2500 pads, and that combination was great. Did 40,000 warp free miles before the car was written off by somebody who...

    Gearbox & Diff Oils

Yep, that's the same as the one I have. The rear diff was just a normal spline drive drain plug.

    A4 B6 Steering Wheel/Airbag

All B6 airbags are single stage as far as I know, so any B6 bag should fit any B6 wheel as far as I know (sport/SE wheel/bag differences aside of course!). The MFSW wheel will be different to a non MFSW wheel in wiring and maybe even the horn switch layout, but the airbag itself should be the...

    Gearbox & Diff Oils

I was told the oil is 'sealed for life' too, but no harm in changing it. My 1st to 2nd gear seems better in the cold as a result, and the old oil was pretty thin and black. I got the genuine stuff, at main dealer parts prices it was about £86 though. Still, it hadn't been changed for 120,000...

    Warranty - HELP!!!

I read the latter email they sent to you as confirmation that you do have a warranty with them, from the 19th January by the looks of it. I expect they need you to sign and accept the terms and conditions of the warranty, so that they can proceed with your claim as they state, and not to start a...

    engine undertrays, all the same?

They're different on the A3 (8L), certainly quattro to non quattro, so I'd be surprised if they were all the same. It's one of those things you might be best speaking to a friendly local Audi parts department about. They should be able to check on the systems what was fitted at the factory...

OIL LEAK 1.8T SPORT CONVERTIBLE - From rear & top of engine?

The cambelt is at the front of the engine, behind the plastic cover. From your pics, it does look like the cam chain tensioner gasket is the culprit, if you've checked the other pipes etc in that location. It's quite a fiddly job to replace the gasket, and the tensioner has to be removed to...

A few quick 1.8T questions - hopefully no duplicate things posted

Just to add to what has been posted. The cambelt service interval was changed retrospectively on 1.8T's from 115k to 75k or 5 years. Oil in the plug wells is likely to be the cam cover gasket, cheap enough fix. I would warn against the oil flush product, it was using that on mine...

    WHAT JUST HAPPENED ?????

The bang you heard could be completely unrelated, or part of the problem. It's difficult to describe faults like this on the internet... I've just re-read your original posts, and there is nothing you describe in there that would make me think it was a driveshaft or cv joint. Those things are...
