    Steering Rack has failed :(

With that spec and mileage you've no need to get rid anytime soon. I'm hoping the weather is OK tomorrow (heavy rain this PM) so I can give mine a good clean and then I'll be happy with it again! The rack must have been going for a little while 'cos some of the creaks and groans that I...

    Renewing brake pads

If you send a note to Paul (PJMSpeedy) an let him know you're chassis number he'll get you a good price on genuine Audi parts - I'd not go down the generic parts route unless money is really tight or you are getting rid of the car Yoou can then compare these to what garages are quoting you and...

    Steering Rack has failed :(

Hi Johnboy It's just come up to 105,000 - 7 year old next month so not mega-high but the guy at the garage said I'd just been unlucky with the rack going but I've read on here that it's not uncommon I just put it down to experience and an empty wallet  Overall I have had little go wrong...

    Steering Rack has failed :(

Well the garage called this morning with the bad news - new rack and p/s pump required :( - with the pump needing replacing that's another 3 hours labour so parts, labour and the dreaded VAT are £1200 (we looked at the racks on eBay but they are different part no.s) Also, he didn't recommend...

    bast**ds took my babys

Mine's parked in the garage when at home but I do have a tracker (was fitted from new when I bought it) and this gives me some peace of mind If they want my car they can have it but instinct will kick in - when they attempted to break in at our old house I was the one literally jumping down...

    bast**ds took my babys

Not good news and sorry you're experiencing the upset and disruption that goes with out. Quite a few years ago we had an attempted break in whilst we were asleep - luckily they didn't get in and didn't get the car (VW Golf GTI) but it really shook me and my wife - luckily it was before we had...

    Steering Rack has failed :(

Noticed some grinding yeterday when I turned the wheel - Power Steering reservoir was empty and we hoped it was a split pipe Took it to the (Independent Audi Specialist) garage today who have diagnosed steering rack failure :( Looks like I am waving good bye to £800+ (the part alone is...

    Best Polish

Polar For a dark blue car you have a few options Auto Glym SRP is a good all rounder and contains some fillers so will help with minor imperfections A good one for your dark blue will be Dod Blue Velvet - a really nice wax But for both I would use a stone chip repair paint to carefully...

    Baby on the way

My A4 has the switch in the glovebox and it was an optional extra when speccing the car - came with rear and front passenger isofix package We spec'd this because we had a baby already and wanted the isofix but as others have said we never put the child seat in the back as itwasn't worth the...

Roof bar removal and front grill advice

If you want too remove them then you will need to remove the roof lining as they are bolted from underneath and there are holes (3 per side from memory) that will need filling. I enquired about replacing mine as they are heavily tarnished but the effort was not worth it If you are going for...

    Clutch Life

My car (A4 1.9TDi Quattro) is coming up to 90,000 miles on the original clutch I know it depends on driving style but wondered what sort of life I should expect to still get from the clutch? The engaging of the clutch seems a little higher on the clutch pedal than it used to but is there...
