It will be worth it. You have all the supporting mods to get the best out of the turbo. If you do find the spool a little late, then you can fit a smaller turbo and probably stick with the same software if unitronic. Sell the old one on ebay.
4WD drive should really hook up well, but it will...
Jim, you are going to thank yourself for getting those supertech valves then as you'll be needing to rev that thing way past the stock rev limit. It's going to be lag....lag....lag.........WOOOOOSH!!!!!
I'd say you were looking at a 4500-5000rpm -> 8000rpm power band. But you will get 400bhp +
You can still drive it about on low boost. I notice the lump idle, ECU should adapt to solve that unless you have a vacuum leak.
Out of interest, which exhaust housing a/r did you go for?
Anti-surge inlet looks mean! :-)
Nick, Unitronic can make a map to your requirements over the phone or email and send you a reprogrammed ECU. They are producing excellent maps at the moment. Just tell them the turbo spec and injectors you want to use. MAF-less option is a winner. Gets rid of a weak point.
Ta. Looking at bike compressors too. Fiddly little springs on these engines.
Nice numbers out of the ibiza, good torque too. Bit too high in the rev range for a street car, but that thing would kick some butt at the drag strip if that's his thing.
James, email Bob at qedpower.com. Tell him what you want to do and he will work out a price. Usually emails back within a couple of days. Exchange rate isn't great anymore tho.
What caused the bend valve? Timing, spring seating?
Also consider broken valve springs on these engine from incorrect seating. Be aware of this if you haven't already seen it
You can reuse the raceware studs, no problem.
Good luck for the rebuild.
This will show when the boost will come in (you can all read compressor maps can't you?)
Might spool a little sooner due to the extra capacity. Also will depend on intercooler type, inlet manifold etc. Probably won't get much befor 4000rpm. It will kick when it gets there.
83mm bore with 86.4mm stroke gives a capacity of 1870cc. 90cc over the standard capacity of 1780cc.
I couldn't get scat rods for love nor money. On back order worldwide when I tried. Went for Intergrated Engineering items in the end (basically exactly the same rod).
Can't wait to see this...
Jim, do you have any more heat shielding to go on. I see some rubber and plastic pipes very close to the turbo. I would also invest in one of the TT coil pack wiring sheilds. Gonna get pretty hot up top now.
Very nice choice. Full race mani arguably the best out there. Not a single failure to date. I take it they fit in RHD cars with 4WD then?
Screamer pipe, you nutter! Get some vids when it's done :-)
See here for injector info --> http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1989841
I use USRT...
Good luck with the build, should hit 400bhp with the right map. Looks externally gated. What manifold? Backdraft?
Gotta love those huge garrett inlets.
