My view is you have a decent case here but being so overly defensive does not help your cause and these are reasonable questions to be asked. The failure occurring so close to your oil change is always going to attract questions and you need to be prepared to accept that and have answers ready...

Cash is no longer king, in many respects dealers these days do not want cash, pcp, finance etc are worth more to them than a cash sale. You might well get a better deal by going the finance route and paying it off early with the cash in your pocket.
There are very few circumstances where you recoup the money spent on mods, one of those is if you are the guy doing all the labour to fit them and can prove/satisfy people of your capability. Generally speaking the best case scenario is that you don't DE value the car with the mods.
