Gets even more confusing when you consider there were not only S-lines but also S-line special editions which were different even between petrol and diesels!!
I've just literally fitted a set of pro-kit springs to my S-line this weekend due to failing the Mot due to broken rear springs.
Well I say 'set' but only 1 front and 2 rears been done so far due to damn pinch bolt on the track rod end siezed so took ages to do!!
As the others have said the...
I did quite a bit of looking around and reading on this as wanted a set but not going to throw away money.
Basically it's a total grey area as others has said but all seems to be about the "must be made of reflective material" part. Some interperat this as meaning the backing must be made from...
Mines WAU but as you said being TDi that's right.ù
Did a bit more digging and there was a v1 for the 2006 56 model and then a v2 from 2007.
Mine is sounding like it might be as have the S-line badge on the steering wheel and S-line kick plate trims that from what I've read is a good indicator...
That's interesting.
Always wondered about mine. 06' A7 B7 2.0 Tdi S-line saloon but on the V5 it says Special Edition.
Its got the black Valcona leather and black headlining which I thought was only on the SE but as the plate was normal Audi thought it wasn't. Maybe it's only the tfsi ones...
Sorry, didn't mean to worry you after all this time of trying to find a solution and totally agree this whole subject is not clear.
The idler gear is the one on the gear driven balancer units between the crankshaft gear (gear on the crank) and balancer shaft gear (one with 4 bolts). I was under...
I too became a bit disillusioned by it all when phoning around local specialist. One said they haven't seen many and don't regard it as a common problem and didn't seem the need to get it done, another one said they could re-manufacture the shaft and fit but when I asked about fitting a new...
Hi Nigel,
I sent a 'conversation' on Saturday about getting hold of Vagcom off you but not had a reply yet. Sorry to chase it's just I'm limited on time to get the headlight alingment sorted before mot window closes end of the week and im not sure if you need a certain number of post before I...
Thanks for that, worth knowing and trying first off. I think it could be very similar as its was fine last MOT and the nothing has happened that would cause both to now be too low.
Just need Nigel (NHN) to answer my request for price on Vagcom now. :icon thumright:
Spoke to Audi this morning.
First they said you dont usually have to 'plug them in' to adjust them so a bit concerning. Then after pushing they said it'll be about £60-64 quid and 30-45 mins.
Rather put it towards getting Vagcom and adjust it myself.
Thanks for heads up Majik, that could be a bad day.
Well manage to check against the garage door and they do seem low. Based on 650mm height the beam is about 580mm at 5m / 16' so well over the 2% limit on the mot.
Going to speak to The garage on Monday to see if they can do it and the cost.
Nope, standard S-line suspension.
It passed the MOT last year and the previous owner has not had any work that would involve the front / lights coming out.
Did the test to see if it was doing the initial calibration (lights on, then turn the ignition on to see if it moves up/down) and is does...
Hi Nigel,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I am just concerned that the reason it not level is that it has a problem as at night the lights are facing down (to the point where most of the road ahead dis in darkness). On reading it seemd this si the default/error position.
I am going to check...
Hi all,
My A4 2.0TDi S-line has been in for MOT but failed on a tyre and both headlamp aim being too low.
Simple I thought until I remembered its got the Xenon's with auto-leveling.
I've only had the car little over a month but have noticed at night the lights not pointing very high so have...
As stevegrass777 has said Audi will only replace the whole thing and unless you are particularly lucky don't rely on getting and financial assistance form them.
The only way of sorting it is to either remove the whole balancer unit and get a 1.9 tdi chain driven system installed (at the...
Recently bought a 170 SLine A4 so did quite a bit of homework on these issues:
Balancer Shaft fix will depend on if you have a chain drive or gear driven unit (I believe most BRD's in the 170 are gear). If it is gear driven unit then no issue with chains however they can still suffer form a...
