5 speed I'm afraid mate. I don't think its a total gear box problem, the mechanic seemed to think it was a straight clutch replacement. I'll get it up on the ramp and look the whole car over first though. No point spending £550 if something else is about to die.

Took it to the local vag specialist, reckons it's a worn clutch. Replacement clutch + flywheel jobby apparently. Any other (cheaper) ideas? :-D

Nope, its biting at exactly the same height as when I bought it @ 106k (its now at 112).
