Bad news, it seems like the gbox is done for and needs a whole lotta cash to fix! ish!!! I had it done 'just' 30k km's back, how could it break again!!!? this is at VW/AUDI gbox specialist mind you. anyway, I think this car has been nothing but trouble to me...i love it to bits but the downtime...

AGAIN??? there's a noise that comes from the gearbox at idle, it's like there's something loose and when i step on the clutch it goes away...i had before and 'twas covered by warranty so never bothered to ask what it was... anyone have any clue as to what it could be? ? I'm thinking it might...

do you guys know if this is a serviceable item or what? I get conflicting information regarding this, plus it's not in the service manual (or i can't find it )...i just had i changed 30 000 kms ago and now the garage (independent) wants to change it again...i doubt it needs changing though...

Sounds exactly like what my car was doing before the primary fuel pump failed...at first thought it was the MAF but even after cleaning it would occassionally misfire...have it checked out! my car is certainly much smoother..it would hesitate slightly on uphills, I now know it was the pump not...

thanks...i have the pre-facelift ('99)... i've stopped driving it since the indicator don't anymore and am pretty bored with driving my other car - mk1 golf... So how do I go about removing the center console?....the radio is a not a prob, whatelse must be removed to get to the ****** switch....

seems like it's a typical problem ...the hazards work fine but the light stops flashing when you indicate either direction... turns out it's the hazard switch..please help me to locate and replace it...

may be a little off-topic... squealing brakes - would that be due to warped/worn discs? what else could be the problem...it started a few 100 kilometers after the new pads were added and is only on the front left wheel...will take it back to the fitment place but would like any input before...

tried searching for this topic if 'twas covered before but can't find useful info. My passenger window goes down fine but if u try to close it, it goes up then comes down again. Pretty sure it's not the motor but maybe some obstruction. I can manage to close the window by helping it along...

sorry to hijack your post but Audi A3 1.8TS did u get your temp problem sorted?... I had the waterpump and thermostat changed...problem gone!

Could be the temp sender..and it's as easy as taking the old one out fitting the new one in, no flushing, nothing..had the same prob, got it sorted out. In hindsight, shoulda done it myself...AndrewUkR6 also has a similar prob ("low temp" thread)...hope this helps... age and mileage of your...
