Thanks for your comments. Fiddled about with the brake shield and nothing dropped out. Tried reversing at speed too.
Took the car to work this morning and there was no noise, so went on a 15 mile run after work (motorway and city) to get the brakes up to temperature as I figured it may be...
Hi guys
This evening my car started making a very loud squealing noise when in motion, usually only at lower speeds; touching the brake usually stops it. It's coming from the front of the car
I think the drivers side front brake pad is sticking partially engaged. There was also a slight...
Hadn't considered than Phil, thanks. I must admit I haven't even taken it off yet.... Hopefully removing it and refitting may be enough if it's worked it's way loose or something but nothing is ever that simple with this car
Hi guys
I've developed a small leak from one of the two hoses that take fuel from the diesel filter to the engine. A main dealer Audi mechanic took a look and says I need to replace the pipe and that it's a simple job to do myself..... but unfortunately Audi want £66 for the pipe alone and...
I can't fault their service to be fair. They've done a top job respraying the side of the car after rust appeared at the bottom of the drivers door and I was given a brand new (less than 100 miles on the clock) A6 SLine to drive around in for the week while the work was being carried...
Ignore the grand total. That includes quotes for replacing the front and rear disks which are apparently on their way out, as well as the NSR brake which is binding.... a whopping £789 if I wanted to get that done through them
Then a further £322 for the flexi hose and driveshaft oil leak
Not...
Hi guys
As part of a rust warranty claim I was forced to have an Audi service to re-establish my 'brand loyalty'.... anyway, they've come back with a couple of advisories; 'NSF flexi hose damaged' and 'Oil leak from gearbox (os driveshaft flange)'
Just wondering if you guys could give me a...
Just a few pics as promised post front end conversion
S3 bumper with black optics grille and satin black central splitter section
Satin black rear valance (looks better in person, in my opinion)
Satin anthracite rings front and back
Custom Swansea...
Thanks for the advice. No I haven't changed them. I probably should've at the time I fitted the springs in hindsight. I think it was recommended to me, but the mechanic who fitted them said not to bother... so I didn't! Any idea how much it would cost for a garage to replace them?
I wouldn't...
Thanks, will do
Searching Google and it seems a lot of other people on varying makes and models of cars have reported the same noise when turning at very low speed (usually when reverse parking and the like) with H&R springs. From what I can gather, it's not dangerous/indicative of a fault...
Hi guys, had 50mm H&R lowering springs fitted around 10 months ago
I've recently noticed that if I turn the wheel quickly when moving very slowly or when stationary I can hear a creaking noise coming from the front springs. It's not a clunking or banging, more a creak that sounds like it's...
Chances are he won't get the sill covers off without damaging them, so you'll probably have to buy them new from Audi or a parts supplier like TPS. They're stuck down with a fairly strong adhesive and usually bend/crease when removed
I dont think 66mpg is possible in a 170, I certainly can't get anywhere near that. Sounds like the 140s are much more economical then?
Also worth remembering that the on board computer figures aren't always reliable. Generally my DIS under reads my real world consumption by a few MPG. Though...
On the earlier A3s and S3s the valance is one moulded piece. In your pic you can see the line where the valance clips into the bumper. Everything below that line is one piece
But can the 3dr S3 valance shown in the pic be retrofitted to 5dr A3s of the same age? (06-08). I know the 3dr and 5dr bumpers are different around the rear light area, but are the bottoms of the bumpers where the valance clips into the same?
