So let me get this right your buying the clutch parts from the same place that the garage would yet if you want them to buy the parts for you it will cost you £200 extra (bear in mind that they will get the parts cheaper than you as well)....I'd be looking for a different garage myself...
Thick white smoke on idle once warm I would usually say turbo oil seals but you should notice a drop in oil level. You say it's just been serviced did you use a thinner viscosity oil in it?? Therefore the thinner oil is able to seep past the oil seals??
put them in and push them outwards towards the side of the car while pulling back at the same time.... quite hard to do (i.e pull the left hand side to the left and back and the right hand side to the right and back)....you sometimes need to just wiggle them about to get them to engage before...

Thinking I could have a duff Thermostat which is stuck closed preventing flow down the top pipe and through the rad.....?? Stat has only done 10k fitted by audi but ?!??! I can't think what else it could be.... Top pipe is getting warm but I think thats only through heat conduction rather than...

No problems before hand just the leak from the rear coolant flange....top pipe gets warm 75% along the length but gets cold before it meets the rad, bottom hose is still cold and so is the rad, the fan is coming on but is coooling a cold radiator??

I've just done the coolant flange on the 1.8t engine and I'm unsure if the system is fully bled....
I've followed all guides I can find on here and various other website but my rad still isn't getting warm....I'll explain what Ive done so far..

Been a member for a while but never posted....Picked myself up a B6 1.8t quattro sport a few weeks back and have just had to do the PITA of a job coolant flange....hopefully I won't find anymore nasty surprises!!
