Weird shreek started a week after replacing gearbox oil seal

I’ll certainly try when I next get to use the car. Today I managed to experiment a bit. It was doing it on the motorway. Took it out of gear and kept the revs up and it continued. As soon as I dropped the revs, the noise went. Does not do the noise when holding the revs whilst the car is...

Weird shreek started a week after replacing gearbox oil seal

Yeah I did that whilst working on it, looked for split hoses, checked suspension bushes etc and the wheel bearings sound ok. I ensured the correct seal by ordering from the part number on the existing seal (after initially being given the wrong one by the dealer). So yep got caught out with...

I’ve taken everything apart and reassembled again. The flange does seat further in and I have torqued correctly. Unfortunately the noise continues

Weird shreek started a week after replacing gearbox oil seal

i hope someone can help because this car is driving me insane. Recently I’ve had to replace the gearbox drive shaft oil seal on the offside that’s to the car depositing all of the oil on the drive. Many hours and beers later it was sorted and no more leaking. About a week ago the car started...

    Another problem...This time the clutch

Can select any gear with or without using clutch - makes no difference. Had front wheel in air, put in gear and moved one wheel by hand and the other doesnt move.  So sounds more like a plate to me but Im no mechanical god so only a guess. Comments appreciated

    Another problem...This time the clutch

Its an AFN engine. Ive done some investigating. Its not the slave but that was on way out so replaced anyway. Not master (looks quite recent and found to be working fine. So bradderz looks like what your saying could be the fault

    Another problem...This time the clutch

THe clutch has felt fine since I bought the car. No slips or judders or anything. Then today I did my usual (started car by holding clutch in) and the engine and car shook violently. I switched the engine off and took my foot off the clutch pedal but the pedal stayed down. With a little...

1.9TDI shaking - done the search thing but mine is a whole different ball game

New gearbox mounting bracket and both mounts. Cured the crap gearshift sensation. Shaking problem still there so it has to be the rear offside shock. Got another one of those coming tomorrow so hopefully job sorted. Either that or I may be posting a video of my b5 burning :-(

1.9TDI shaking - done the search thing but mine is a whole different ball game

UPDATE - Audi have said 2 days for them to receive a replacement gearbox mounting bracket (the alloy not the rubber) and that it has to be one for a AFN engine B0!!OX is what I have to say. Got one off a 20vt in local scrap yard for a fraction of the cost. Fits perfect and has the same part...

1.9TDI shaking - done the search thing but mine is a whole different ball game

The fronts and rear nearside look ok but your right b5nut, it makes for an interesting drive. Ideal for someone who works night shifts as it certainly keeps your awake! The MOT was in Feb but surely all these faults cant have just come on since then Have to admit it's got me totally...

1.9TDI shaking - done the search thing but mine is a whole different ball game

Update. Old wheels were square. New wheels 16" genuine audi 5 spokes. £110 for five with tyres. Pleased with that. Fitted and balanced and still got the problem. Another check underneath has uncovered a sheered gearbox mount (the alloy part). Bodged for time being which is holding very...

1.9TDI shaking - done the search thing but mine is a whole different ball game

As per title my afn fwd is shaking as in you can feel the whole car going. It does it when on the move but not all the time. At 50mph it does it constantly but above or below this speed it just does it every now and then. There is no clicking which would indicate worn driveshafts and from...
