could be that in the accident the air bags deployed, might also of had the dash removed if the header tank silica bag burst, and a new heater matrix fitted. its guess work as to why it may of been removed. Are the auto wipers turned on in the cars coding? Im sure you can check with Carista etc.

i first noticed as it leaked screenwash onto the hatch central locking motor causing that to fault. Brittle plastic which split when it was freezing temps and freezing the jet housing. With not using the rear wash as much as the fronts, it went un noticed, until my hatch wouldnt lock.

My 8p A3 suffered this, it was a cracked pipe fitting on the washer jet. was quite common on 8p models
