I think the transponder is the item bottom right in your picture. My '96 has a transponder/imobiliser as the yellow key simbol illuminates when you turn the ignition on and my key looks the same as yours.
The time has come for me to part with my A4. :-(

Just a heads up for anyone in the B5 forum.
Can you not do a throttle alignment by disconnecting the battery for half an hour and then reconnecting and turning ignition on but NOT actually starting the engine?
I've currently got a Sony headunit in my '96 Sport which was fitted when I bought the car.I've also got the onboard DIS display for MPG/range/ave speed etc.If I refit an Audi headunit would the DIS also display station info?
What headunit would have been fitted to my car from the factory...
Don't know about oil spec (try Opie oils website?) but the dimmer is at the bottom of the clocks. It's a black spindle sticking out of the face of the dash.
I've an Audi owners manual for the face lift in good condition if you want one for the glove box? £6 delivered?
Log block one in the abs module with vag com while driving below 10-12mph and letting car come to a halt. One of the speed readings will fluctuate. This is your problem sensor. The sensor will probably be ok (unless it's taken a hard knock or the actual wires are damaged) as will the new sensor...
Rim diameter doesn't make a vast difference,it's all about ET and width.Tyres between 215 and 235 will be ok as mist wheels in 17+ inch diameter are going to be at least 7.5" wide.Maybe worth buying cheap spacers to get the wheel/arch combo flush and then use propper steel hubcentric ones once...
I've got 19x8 et25 and 235/35 rear and et33 and 225/35 front but on a fwd chassis. This is just on sport springs so not low.Probably got about 25mm arch gap at the rear and 35mm at the front. The wheels sit mor or less flush with the arches.
Isn't the A3 transverse and therefore has a larger sump/oil capacity? I think the main point of the larger filters on the A4 is to increase capacity and avoid cooking the oil with the turbo too much.
Been brilliant every time I've been.Good weather always helped but there's loads to do and see.
Managed to get on the normal camping field before it was full.
Yes to autojumble but prob not many Audi specific parts. Was a lot of air-cooled stuff last year but there was some modern bits, wheels and such mainly.
Hope weather perks up a bit.Rain for last two days.
The method shineydave mentions might not work on a 1996 car, didn't on mine.Only way you can reset them is with a full (ie bought) version of vagcom or visit a dealer or good independent garage.
