You Clearly didnt read my post very well. I never said that my oil pump wont fail. My point was that THEY ALL FAIL even the new gear design. Might as well tell every 2.0 tdi B& owner to sell now before they fail. Cant see our cars being worth much then

I have come to the conclusion that there seems to be a similar amount of problems with the gear system (hex shaft) as the chain system. I dont think there is any concrete evidence to suggest that the gear system is more reliable as there seem to alot of low mileage cases of the gear system...

I think 35 is the max and 43 is the norm, If you go for 45 you will need spacers to bring them out.

Ah I see, Just to add more info to the thread....... I just called and got a service history report going back to 40k and the balance shaft has never been replaced. It is now at 100k so looks like it has never been replaced. I am waiting on audi getting back to me for history before 40k...

Has anyone tryed or got machanical breakdown cover? I wonder what sort of cover is possable and how much is it.

Hi, may have read my other thread relating to problems with maf,i/c pipe etc. Anyway i have replaced the i/c pipe going to the turbo as it had a split in it making the car run badly.Runs sweet now but it feels way to fast,I have only had the a few days so dont have nothing to compare it to but...

Just found I have a split in the bog hose that goes onto the turbo, very confused now is this what is causing all the problems?
