you're right in a lot of what you say Brett. I think you have hit the nail on the head by saying it does feel like a safe car, and maybe that's why it feels, IMO anyway, a bit bland. Don't get me wrong a safe car is fine but just not raw enough for me. It ticks a lot of boxes, but the only one...

+1 Beanoir. And again not wanting to harp on about other marques of car, but as capable as the S3 is, it did feel pretty bland. After reading reviews about the S3 and noting that many journalists came to this conclusion, i felt I knew better and hence opted to buy the brand new highly specced...

What gearboxes do u have ? Mine is DSG so be interesting to compare against the manual

Give the stealers a try, i was pleasantly surprised what I was offered for my S3. But any mods on the car will not help you as already mentioned, Audi will not touch it or at best knock u down in price.

The fuel consumption is scary TBH, as you say you end up driving too sensibly just to squeeze some value for money out of your hard earned cash. I suppose that's what happens when you squeeze so much power out of a 2L 4 cyl.

The 996 has not gained the best reputation for reliability,but the 996TT engine is not related to the non-blown version of the 996 at all, they are 2 totally different types of engine. thanks for the comments, wasn't sure about the colour to start with, but turns out to be Midnight Blue Metallic rather than the Lapis Blue as it was advertised, comparing the 2 I think Midnight wins it anyway.

Finally got the 996TT. Here are a few shots just to see what is replacing the S3. Sorry about the back drop.......... not great, but i reckon the car makes up for it :yum: The power the car has is just awesome and to be honest a bit scary. You can be doing crazy speed without even realising it...

Just do it , better than saying in a few years time........... I nearly bought a 911 once. You won't regret it !!
