    Facelift S3 video

The Ascari blue looks good (in photos) but I am also quite taken by the 'District Green' (strange name!) on a Black Edition. Looks classy and a bit unusual.

    Tyres

You can probably find more info in other tyre threads, but my vote would go to Michelin PS5. As for the 8.5 Golf R (yes, VW have replaced the awful infotainment system in the new FL Golf), I don't think it will be much more subtle than the new FL S3. And the R won't even be officially revealed...

8Y vs. Golf 8, build quality

I don’t think there is that much between Audi and VW these days on built quality. Materials maybe (Audi better imo), but you are talking rattles and squeaks etc. I think you were very unlucky with your 7.5 Golf. I have a 7.5 GTi that is still rock solid after 7 years. No-one knows about the...

    S3 Car Insurance

Had a quick read through this thread and Andrew's comment sums up my experience, and also looking at insurance comparison threads on other car forums. I'm convinced that the people who man the phones for these companies don't have the foggiest idea how the algorithms work. As someone said, they...

    So Irritating!

When I joined this site in March 2021, the 8Y section was full of threads about the faulty infotainment system and the SOS system. It really put me off. Three years on, I assumed that Audi would have addressed all the MyAudi, Audi connect and satnav loading issues by way of hardware/software...

    Current market...

If you haven't sold it yet I would follow up on the Motorway option. With M-way, you can expect to get at least £1k more than the 'initial estimate' (if car really is mint) when the competing dealers get to see the pics. I am aware of a 2023 Vorsprung with only 1700 miles on the clock for...

    Face lift A3 2024

Its an interesting choice. A brand new FL Black Edition A3 Sportback (Ascari blue paint, upgraded alloys, no tech packs) for £37,300 OTR - in 6 months ? - or a nearly new Black Edition S3 for about the same money. My local Audi dealer has a late 2023 Black Edition S3 Sportback in turbo blue...

    Face lift A3 2024

That press release (dated today) also says "A3 Sportback and saloon models are now available to order in the UK" but the Audi UK website still says "Coming soon". Will probably catch up in the next few days, but you'd think that they would coordinate these things...

    Face lift A3 2024

Reports vary a bit. Carwow's review says power is up 23 bhp (to 333) and torque up 20 Nm (to 420). That's a lot of grunt/pulling power for a small family car! The 0-60 time (4.7 secs) is essentially the same (0.1 sec faster) but there are, of course, a lot more meaningful ways to measure/assess...

    Face lift A3 2024

Agree completely. Big performance gap between the 1.5 A3 and the 2.0 S3! VW lost the plot with the "all-digital" mk 8 Golf so that isn't an option for me. I had an manual S3 about 12 years ago and loved it. The new one is out of my price range unfortunately. My partner had a 2015 1.5 A1 DSG...

    Face lift A3 2024

I must admit that I like the front of the new A3/S3 facelift (based on photos) but will reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh at the showroom. That especially applies to the interior, the quality of which can't really be assessed from photos. The S3 represents a much bigger upgrade...

    Audi A3 8Y Issues

I assume that this software version number is displayed in the MMI settings? I may be going to look at a 21-plate Edition 1 next week and would like to check it. It is not at a main Audi dealership so the sales staff on hand probably won't know anything about the MMI issues. I don't know how...

    Thanks. That is useful info.

    Audi A3 8Y Issues

Hi Guys. I cancelled an order for an A3 Edition 1 manual in Navarro Blue back in March 2021, partly due to the numerous comments on here and other forums about the numerous problems with the MMI / Emergency SOS function. At the time the salesman in the local dealership said that he "knew nothing...

    Audi Refuse Rejection Pt2

Its clear from other reports on here that the MMI-related issues are not due to an alternator fault. Its not too late to reject the car, but will be more complicated now you are outside the initial 30 day period, especially with a finance company involved. There will almost certainly be 'usage...

    New S3 Carwow drag race

Not at all. I had an S3 about 10 years ago, and a TTS prior to the M135i, so I do like Audi's. Would have probably gone that way if not for all the reported problems with the 8Y A3. I hate unreliability in cars, and especially repeated visits back the the dealership. Life is just too short for...

    FOD

Sorry, I'm not buying any of that, as it implies that the senior technical people at Audi are complete idiots. Who in the right mind tries to force modern s/w to run on old hardware? They have simply encountered either a serious software error or an incompatibility issue (in certain...

    FOD

Yes, but that gremlin filled MMI has turned out to be a huge embarrassment for Audi, leading to quite a few rejected cars. Just read the posts on here, for example, which represent a tiny proportion of A3 8Y owners. The MMI is a complex bit of kit nowadays, linked to many other subsystems. Audi...

    2020 Used A3 - lots of problems

To me, that's the very reason to reject it. As said, plenty more A3's out there. If buying second hand I'd be inclined to look at a low mileage 8V, as there have been problems with the 8Y from the start; it's just that Audi have been very slow to admit to any of them. If you do decide to reject...

    Audi refuse rejection

As I understand it, you only get a full refund (deposit + any monthly payments made) if the car is rejected within the first 30 days. Beyond that, the finance company will make "deductions for usage" (based on length of "ownership" and mileage), but I have no idea how big those deductions might be.
