Ok saga continues, had a sunny hour or so and popped the bonnet. It’s not a hose popped off the reservoir so it’s definitely lower down, what I can see are loads of seeds on the front of the under tray so my brain pod thinks it’s rats or mice that have chewed through a hose.
So now waiting on...
Well almost a fortnight later and because of bad weather I still haven’t been out to look at the steering. I’m hoping it’s just a pipe clamp that’s given way but knowing my luck…….
I don’t have a clue as to where I can buy parts as the stealers will pull my eyes out for a part on a 2008 car...
Went out to the car this morning and found a large puddle of power steering fluid under the nearside wheel :scared2:
Any idea of what it might be before I brave the pouring rain…..

Have a check of the earth cables. With the problems being sporadic it could mean one of the main earth connections has snapped and is just making contact.

I have the same car just a couple of years newer. First off have you done any work on the car recently? I assume you have a tow bar, how long has it been since you used the towing electrics plug socket? And last have you driven it since you noticed the items greyed out?

Ah ok, I thought it wouldn’t start at all. I would suggest you start looking at the fuel filters and while you do that look at the fuel pressure. If you can get hold of VCDS you can check the function of your injectors yourself and not start the parts swapping marathon. Did your mechanic mention...
Mines a 2008 2.7 Allroad and doesn’t have one either. On the options sticker in the boot it has the PR code - 7gn which is DPF preparation, confusingly though this doesn’t mean it has a dpf……
Well I was almost there, pleased about the CP though because for some reason that frightens me. I suppose it goes back to the 80’s when buying a used stereo from a guy in the pub meant that it was nicked. Thanks B5 sterling wisdom as always..

As far as I understand it, CP would have to be removed from the new DAB unit (could be wrong here) you then have to connect it all up in the rack with a harness etc and a DAB antenna, activate it in VCDS (again could be wrong). That’s why I was thinking about aftermarket, they are...
