Unfortunately it did need a whole new unit and connector. I think in the end it was round the £200 mark from an independent Audi specialist.
Seems to be a really common problem on this generation of TT’s (only found out afterwards that they’d already had the drivers side replaced for the same...
My girlfriends Mom’s car (2013 mk2 TT) has been having a problem recently where the passengers rear tail light is a lot dimmer than the drivers side as shown in the following picture.
We initially thought it was the bulbs that needed changing so did so, but after starting the car the whole...
Glad they didn’t get your car mate. Exactly the same happened to me last month but unfortunately they got what they were after!
Now upgraded all locks, new alarms, cctv etc. Still far too scared to buy anything remotely ‘nice’ as a replacement even though my insurance have already paid out...
Some S3's have a metallic rattling sound at lower revs. It's a fault that has also been found on Golfs as well and there is currently no resolution for it from Audi who say it's just an "engine characteristic". It's more commonly known as 'Wastegate Rattle' , plenty of threads on this forum...
Agree with everything you said!
I was on my own the night it happened and slept through the whole thing. Kind of glad I didn't wake up cus I'm not sure what I would have done had I seen them. Even if I disturbed them I probably would have ended up with a knife held to my throat.
Think it has...
I know mate, it’s been happening a lot recently around the local area so it was always something I was worried about, still awful when it happens though!
When I took out the gap insurance I was told I would be paid out the full value I paid for the car as long as it was still under 5 years old...
Well looks like I will be finding out how admiral are sooner than I’d have wanted to...
My S3 was stolen off my drive this morning at 4am. ******** broke the lock off my back door and got the keys from the house.
Only had it 3 months as well, I’m gutted!
Only saving grace is I took out my...
But surely it doesn't matter what quote the basic insurance give me as i'll have the GAP insurance to make up the shortfall to the value I paid for the car?
Unless they have some way of wiggling their way out of it which i'm not aware of?
I took out gap insurance with Admiral earlier this week, £178 for 3 years on my S3.
Chose them simply because my car insurance is with Admiral also so thought I might as well keep it all within the same company.
Suppose I will only find out if they are any good if the worst happens!
Merry Hill by the new Next?
I used to work there and the end spot where the A3 saloon is was the spot I always used to try and get, parking as far to the barrier as possible too haha.
Unfortunately if I was on a late shift the car park was already pretty full by the time I got there so had to...
I'm having the same problem on my Daytona grey S3. I've only done 500 miles in it myself (26,500 on the clock) and the amount of stone chips on the bonnet is ridiculous.
Annoying thing is I had a proper look round the car both inside the showroom and outside and the paint looked in great...
Well this week on the drive to and from work the rattle has gotten far worse, it's got to the point now where it genuinely sounds horrid. I am however convinced that it's not the metallic waste gate rattle which I suppose is good news.
Last night I got my girlfriend to drive my car for a bit...
After a bit more searching I’ve come across this relatively new product. Seems to have been designed entirely to sort the problem many are having. Unfortunately there’s not many reviews for it so not too sure if it will be any good, but for £19 it could be worth a go...
I’ve spent the morning doing as much research as possible about this and unfortunately it appears the damage is permanent. Can be caused by strong traffic film removers used at cheap car washes.
People have said they managed to get the chrome trims changed under Audi warranty with a bit of...
I don’t think the chrome has been removed...well I really hope it hasn’t haha!
Have heard that this can happen to the chrome when people take their cars to the local £3 wash and scratch places and they throw all sorts of acid on the vehicle. Unfortunately I don’t know how the previous owner...
I’ve noticed some small white marks on the chrome window trim on my driver side door. Not sure what they are but they don’t shift when I rub my nail against them.
Anyone got any suggestions on what to try to clean/remove them? Really don’t want to use the wrong product and end up damaging...
Saw this product on the detailing word forum. Looks like it could be ideal for the alloys pictured in the original post given how many tiny tight gaps there are.
Funny you should say that. My local is Halesowen Audi and they are nothing short of useless. When I was looking to buy an S3 they were the most unhelpful people I have encountered at a dealership. And I soon as I mentioned I didn't need any finance on the used options I was looking at they...
Don't worry pictures will be coming in due course haha, car is getting detailed on Monday so i'll take a few then!
Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will probably go down the independent route then.
I've signed up to My Audi to try and get some more info on the car regarding spec/service...
