Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a way to check the wear on the clutch packs on a DSG box in my 2010 S4 (yes I know... the troublesome year lol)
It had the mech unit repaired at Audi a few months back and all was fine for a few weeks, then it gradually started to get lurchy and jumpy between...
That’s good to know that I’m not alone then, thanks! It could well be something like that! I was wondering if it was something to do with carbon build up like the v8 tfsi suffer with as I only do short journeys?
Ok thanks all I didn’t think it was right, it’s got full service history with Audi stamps, apart from the last one which was done by the garage I bought it from (Audi specialist) so it has been done regularly and properly, but I think I’ll change the oil anyway as a precaution.
Mines a 3.0t petrol sorry mate S4, what I mean is it’s my first petrol car so don’t know what it’s meant to look like I know it was normal in a diesel but didn’t think it was in petrol
How dark should engine oil in these engines be? I’m new to petrols only ever had diesels before so used to oil blacking up but I didn’t think petrols did. had my car ask for a little top up of oil the other day so bought a manual dipstick so I can keep an eye on it, dipped it and noticed it’s...
Hasn’t got much better, I spoke to someone who had a similar issue to mine and said a clutch reset was done to his car and sorted the issue? Wouldn’t this have been done with the mech unit repair though? If not does anyone know if you can do it yourself? I have a VCDS
Update, just spoke to the garage, they’ve said it’s normal and it’s the adaptations resetting to my driving style, will do some strange things for around 4-6 weeks depending on how much the car is used? It does sound possible as i took it for a good drive yesterday and already seemed a bit better?
Ill be phoning the garage I bought it from tomorrow to see what they have to say, fingers crossed, but that tune does sound interesting if it does address the little niggles! Cheers guys

Hi guys me again,
I’ve recently had my mechatronic unit repaired by Audi themselves, and it’s come back with 99% of the problems fixed but it’s still not 100%, wondering if there’s anything else I can look at? It’s still sometimes hesitant to engage the right gear if you don’t come...
A1 approved I believe it’s called? Been reading the paperwork and it seems I have to pay for all diagnostics etc first at Audi rates as I can’t find anyone else that’ll touch it, and in my eyes I’d rather put the 100 odd quid (maybe more?) towards just changing the damn thing myself and less...
I did see that but doesn’t really answer my question I want to do the work myself and change the control unit as I’ve been told that’s 98% the fault I have, I just need to find someone to take it out and put it back in for me but can’t find anyone local so thinking of having a go myself
Hesitant in first and second when not coming to a complete stop or in slow moving traffic as if it doesn’t know what gear it’s in, hard downshift from 2-1 sometimes, reversing uphill is practically impossible it jumps out and starts rolling forward or just sits there revving, sometimes get an...
Hi guys new on here,
Just bought my 2010 S4 and surprise surprise the mechatronic unit has started to play up. It’s under warranty but reading between the lines I don’t think they’ll cover this so I’m thinking of attacking it myself, at least I know it’s done right then too. I’ve found a guy...
