I had the problem where you would close the drivers door and it would bounce off the catch. The door wouldn't actually open while driving, as it is a double catch, but you couldn't be driving with it like that. It got so bad, you had to close it super gently from the inside, and caress it closed...

there is another thread on this topic active... common that the 3 door variants of this car a3/s3 suffer this problem as they have a very heavy door.

I'm fairly sure that this is the same part as an A3. I had this problem, and the fella that fixed it told me he used a donor A3 for the part.

Warren, another quick question... did you have to get a different knob, that turns further? I recall seeing someone bodged a standard one, as the contacts are actually in place, but covered or something. Just wondering what option you went for.

Actually is it normal on an S3 that the spray follows the wiper? I've been looking at it, and it might be like that by design, but needs to be adjusted so it doesn't spray down onto the bootdoor - just don't know how it could actually be adjusted. The A3 as I said before just sprays up vertical...

My s3 rear wiper isn't great. The spray follows the arm, but sprays down the door and its just out of whack. I have an a3 donor car, that the spray stays vertical up the centre of the window. I was going to try and swap them over, but couldn't get the blade off the donor car... not many...

Syncro, can you explain what the difference is regarding LHD & RHD in this regard. I would have thought the connectors on each side are the same - no. Where would the LHD/RHD difference kick in?

I get you - it does say electrically folding, but that is something I would have to verify, as not a translation error.

Can you explain that again... just by disconnecting the rear interior light, the alarm now sets correctly?

Why are you stripping it out? Is it broke... I'll be on the hunt to get one for mine, as it had one fitted as standard, but it broke and was replaced by a basic mirror.

So the ultimate mod (in this context), would be to have auto dimming and folding mirrors. The folding option, would be controlled by the remote central locking (easier to implement, more useful and cleaner looking in the car), which is what people have been looking for here, so how hard to add...

UK prices for S3's have been very high now for quite a few years. I had been spotting them for ages and prices in Ireland were far cheaper, never mind the fact that a UK purchase also required you to pay extra tax to bring them into Ireland... all that said, many of the UK S3's are looked after...
