That bit of trim is for the rear LHS where you found it. It clips on to the edge of the panel nearest the outside of the car. The slot in it is for the cable for a swiveling trailer hitch. Steve

Presume you have a 2G MMI system? In which case the reverse camera works differenly to my 3G version.

You can also go into the A/C settings on the MMI and select the option to synchronise both sides. This will remain until you turn it off

Yes, faulty sensor disables all the PDC system (including camera if fitted) with the symptom you describe. Steve

Put it in reverse and put your ear to each sensor. You should be able to hear them clicking. Most likely you have one or more dead sensors rather than the module
