    Skoda Octavia VRS 245 advice.

Just visiting and noticed this...... We swapped the A3 Sportback 1.5 TFSI Black Edition for a Skoda Octavia VRS245 Estate, as we didn't like the Audi MMI system, (prefer the touchscreen the rest of VAG uses), the 1.5 wasn't fast enough and, well, I was just bored. Considering they are/were...

    Permanantley Live 12V Socket

Over on the Octavia forum we discuss enviously the Audi's with their ignition switched sockets. On the Octies they are permanently live ( and no fuse moving trick). I'm in the middle of trying to hardwire my dash cam (to ignition switched fuse 48) because I can't just plug into the permanently...

    Quick Service Question

Presumably any dealer ( audi or not) would give you a receipt for the service, even if you had to ask for it. When you come to sell the car, there is your proof of servicing......?

    Inspection Reset

Thanks, I will have a look at their website!

    Inspection Reset

Advice gratefully received....!! I had the A3 serviced at a non franchise garage. I can reset the service warning from the MMI screen but not the "Inspection Due" warning. The bonging sound each time you get in the car is annoying now! If I buy this tool, will I be able to reset it myself...

Cold start judder on new A3 Sport 1.5

The "Kangarooing" is widely reported on the Skoda forum ( for some reason?) in relation to the 1.5TSi VAG motor but doesn't seem to be as quite much of an issue on here? I would have guessed the software was the same, but maybe not..? Our 1.5 is ok, there is a tiny hesitancy when you first set...

My Audi a3 been stolen :(

My lad wrote off his Corsa and in fairness the insurance paid out a fairly reasonable price (can't remember which co.)............ But next years premium made my eyes water.......

    Were power folding mirrors a.....?

The power fold mirrors were an option even with BE spec. Not a particularly expensive option but handy we find when leaving it at the airport ( the only place I can rarely "extreme park!").......

    20,000 mile service intervals

"I always followed and completely agreed with the manufacturers initial short period oil change on my motorbikes, but it's simply not necessary with modern car engines." That sounds like an opinion expressed as a fact....:innocent: But as you say, nowadays I leave the car to yearly service...

    20,000 mile service intervals

It's essential on a motorcycle as you have the engine the gearbox and the clutch all in the same oil. Plus they Rev way higher That wouldn't really account for why it's required on my bike, the NC750X as the engine is (famously) half a Honda Jazz car engine, for this year Honda raised the rev...

    20,000 mile service intervals

"I'm not sure but I think you are making the point that if such a short first oil change is required on a motorbike then it should also be on a car. Is this what you are saying?" Yes !

    20,000 mile service intervals

The extended oil changes are daft. My current & previous camper vans had 2 year intervals, madness, I want the turbo to last forever! It's all driven by accountants who have to make the vans ( or cars) attractive to fleet buyers. I researched that the same vans with the same engines had 1 year...

B&O Retrofit or new car... :(

" if you are determined on getting B&O, change the car and go for a nice S alone with the options you want but B&O is generally a rare option in the A3 anyway." :sunglasses:

    1.5 cod manual

Ours does what I would describe as a "hiccup" rather than a kangaroo when you first set off on a cold engine, it does it once for a millisecond and then runs fine. Having driven the car for 16 months now I don't even think about it. In all other respects it is a superb engine, smooth, plenty of...

Sat Nav on the information display

Yep, that's how my A3 1.5tfsi SL BE displays, and I wish it didn't, I would rather have the digital speedo, even when using sat nav....

Sat nav in an A3 sportback 2016

I personally find using the inbuilt sat nav via the MMI wheel to be a fiddly process and can never be bothered. And I find the direction arrows on the screen block out the "picture" too much as well, and I don't like that it has a seperate direction arrow in the part of the dash that normally...

Journey to a mid life crisis!!

Gorgeous.......a 718 Cayman is what I want next, but at the moment I would have to sell other precious toys to pay for it, (bikes, camper etc) which I don't want to do..... So quietly hoping for an inheritance, from her side of the family obviously, and after christmas, I have got a...

    Tiger capacity battery?

I did a similar exercise on a Land Rover discovery a few years ago. I measured the space in the battery box, which allowed for a bigger battery, if you then go on, say, the Tayna Battery website it gives the sizes, connection type (shape) A/h, CCA, everything you need to know really. I was...

    Folding wing mirror lubrication possible?

Could you try spraying a silicon spray into the joints and behind the glass, see if it improved things...? https://www.abbuildingproducts.co.uk/GBR/soudal-silicone-spray.html?utm_source=utm_source%3Dgoogleshopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhfXW8YeQ3wIVTbDtCh0mRQMMEAQYASA
