Great news! I really hope you have it all sorted now.

With those fuel lines being empty the issue would definitely appear to be fuel starvation, the lift pump or a restriction in the filter canister/pipes. Nothing to do with the injectors.

Fuel lines empty!! Well, going right back to the start of you problem, when you put petrol in it you drained the tank and replaced the fuel filter........ Are you absolutely sure that you have not disturbed the fuel tank lift pump when you drained the tank? Maybe it is no longer working properly...

On the upside my son has lent me his Octavia VRS for a couple of weeks, its an 05 1.8 turbo, let's just say its been remapped to 'stupid' and it scares the c**p out of me, loads of hissing and whooshing, a bit embarrassing driving through the village....:scared2:

Not on an 8P, you drain the oil from the drain plug, (below the diff I think) then measure up the correct amount of oil, 1.8L or 2.0L (I can't remember which, you need to check) and refill through the reversing light switch aperture (remove the switch first of course). There is no dedicated oil...

Is it still there when you press the clutch pedal?

On an 8P, I believe you have to drain it fully and then refill with the correct amount through the reversing light switch aperture. There is no 'overflow' check like in the days of old.

Agreed, use OE oil, you need two litres approx. Do you know the correct way to refill it once it is drained?

It sounds like a faulty electrical relay 'chattering'. The comfort & convenience module resides under the dash down there, it has loads of relay switches on it.

The top hose should get pretty warm but the bottom hose is always much cooler unless you have been giving it some for a while. Diesels don't chuck out heat like petrol. Diesels are pretty hard to stop once they are running, no spark to switch off, you have to shut off the air or the fuel. The...

bzc is petrol. The bmn is a 170 tdi, I would imagine the bmn is pretty much the same layout as the bkd.
