Faulty window switch, could this affect other door and keyfob closing?

Hi, I've an Audi A4 B6 with just front electric windows, so just two switches in the driver's door. The one that controls my window has been on its way out for a while, it sticks so I have to push/pull it several times to get the window to go up/down, but it works. On Thursday I parked up and...

Many thanks for all your help! I'll have a look at that site and then the car!

Crankshft Position Sensor - location/replacement ALZ

Hi thanks both for your help. It was running bad yesterday, had to pull over and put hazards on. Took not of the rev counter and was all over the place which add weight to the sensor. However - II still can't find it! Can anyone tell me where it is? Been searching the web again for other VAG...

Crankshft Position Sensor - location/replacement ALZ

Yes, I can connect and and it said the crank sensor was faulty (Forget the DTC etc, saved on my laptop). However the Latency was reported as "poor", using a generic cable (K+ DCAN I think - on loan from a friend). EDIT details in my OP! P0322 Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal

Crankshft Position Sensor - location/replacement ALZ

Hi sorry for the delayed response. Just to clarify it's the crank, not cam sensor I'm asking about. I purchased OBD11 some time ago but could not get it to connect to my car, and a friend loaned me a Carly adapter and I tried 3 apps with the same results. I have not fitted the new sensor yet.

Crankshft Position Sensor - location/replacement ALZ

PS - I don't seem to be able to edit my OP I saw a video of the sensor being replaced on an non VAG car (some US pickup IIRC) - the guy had to calibrate the new sensor, hold it at 4,000 RPM and do something with the laptop. If I replace the sensor will I have to do a similar procedure? Can it...

Crankshft Position Sensor - location/replacement ALZ

Hi, I have a '02 1.6 petrol, engine code ALZ with a P0322 Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal Whereabouts is the sensor? All my web searches yield other engines and I have a Haynes manual but it just covers the 1.8 (was given to me, I didn't buy the wrong one!). And is it easy to change...

1.6 petrol A4 bad starting, MAF sensor testing?

Hi Nate, Many thanks for all your help. I looked at Autodoc, Bosch is £160. I'm in Ireland so would have tax on top of that, taking the cost to more than the car is worth (not that I'd mind that if it fixed it)! I'll see if I can figure out the air pump first. Do you know if the combi valve for...

1.6 petrol A4 bad starting, MAF sensor testing?

Hi, many thanks for the info. I figured there would be electronics in it. As the MAF is rather expensive, is there anything else I can do to confirm it's faulty? Since I posted this, I discovered the secondary air pump is also faulty and possibly the combi valve (according to my searches...

1.6 petrol A4 bad starting, MAF sensor testing?

Hi, sorry to bother you all for the third time with the same problem! I'm still having issues with my 1.6 petrol (engine code ALZ I'm pretty sure - coil pack instead of coil in plug cap). My original post below suggested several things and I'm trying to work through them. I replaced the coolant...

1.6 petrol - bad cold starting; where is the coolant temp sensor & testing it?

Found it after looking in the place for a 1.8T, at the back of the engine just below the combi valve. Once I removed the inlet ducting between the MAF and throttle I could find it. It's just directly below where I placed the sensor in the pic. There is also another temp sensor at the bottom...

1.6 petrol - bad cold starting; where is the coolant temp sensor & testing it?

Hi, back in Feb I had a starting and flat spot issue that resolved itself. I posted in the link below and got many helpful replies. Well, my bad starting is back again. https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/1-6-petrol-bad-starting-huge-flatspot-no-error-codes.423783/ The car overheated a few...

1.6 petrol - bad starting, huge flatspot, no error codes

Hi, just to update you all on this. So, I decided to wait till the weekend to have a more detailed look. I researched some YT videos on how to check the parts suggested here without VCDS, I decided to start with the MAF sensor, simply because it's easy to get at. One video suggested a first...

1.6 petrol - bad starting, huge flatspot, no error codes

Hi, it's the coil pack at the back of the engine, single unit with the 4 leads coming out. It was replaced by an indy garage that I trust in that they said it was a new unit so trust that. Not sure if OEM though. I took it to the garage with the backfiring issue so t never fixed it. I suspect...

1.6 petrol - bad starting, huge flatspot, no error codes

Thanks again. I really don't know how long I'll have the car. Here in Ireland it's hard and expensive to insure cars over 15 years old, but I did go again in Dec so I guess I'll have it till then. My laptop only works off the mains so getting a battery, plus VCDS may work out expensive for 1...

1.6 petrol - bad starting, huge flatspot, no error codes

Thanks Paul for your suggestions, I will look into that. Temp sensor a good call, as I said I never see it go more than half way. Is there any quick checks I can make before just throwing parts and money at it? I'll of course have a look myself, but if you have any links handy I'd appreciate it!

1.6 petrol - bad starting, huge flatspot, no error codes

Hi, my '02 1.6 petrol B6, just under 100,000 miles, has become very hard to start from cold. I turn the key and it fires and then dies. Have to do this about 4 times before it starts, then it hunts around 500-1,500 RPM for a few seconds before going to a smooth idle. If I let it run for about 1...
