    De chrome window surrounds opinions/advice!

From what I've read on here and other sources, it seems that many Vag cars suffer from chrome trim perishing. It's seems there are many opinions as to what the chrome trim is actually made of but the common thought is that it's a metal with a chromed plastic coating, so if it's looked after it's...

    De chrome window surrounds opinions/advice!

I'm not sure, the weather is rubbish just now so I'll see how this test area wears. If it starts to deteriorate, I'd look to seal it with a non-glossy coat of something. If not I'll do it all like this. Worst case scenario is I have to do it again. It would be cool if this helps people turn...

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Rustoleum metallic chrome spray paint. Apparently it's for metals and plastics, the can has a horrible chrome cap on it with a sticker saying the paint doesn't actually look like the cap. It looks more like aluminium but it's good. I'm going to use primer when I do the rest and re-do this bit.

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

In my second consecutive car stuff day, I achieved a lot! Took the car to get a puncture repaired; the guy owns a b7 and complemented me on the condition of my b6 - first time that's happened, made my day! The car had locking wheel bolts but no key, luckily they were familiar with the hammer...

    De chrome window surrounds opinions/advice!

Ok, i was all set for black trim, then at the last minute my dad had secretly bought a can of "chrome" rustoleum spray paint. Ideally I wanted to stay chrome, so it was worth a try. Masked up a section to test it on, and the results are pretty good. It's more aluminium looking, like the roof...

    De chrome window surrounds opinions/advice!

Ok so today I am plasti dipping my chrome window surrounds that have gone all milky, which is a shame because I really like the chrome, but I realise now it's impossible to restore it. I am currently arguing with my dad as he thinks i should keep the top part of the surrounds chrome as they are...

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

That's good, as long as you're not a psychic, because (touch wood) heaters work good for now! Haha!

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

I don't think I had a problem with my heater? But you did help me with my wheel bolt issue!

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

I got my forum sticker the other day ( cheers Sandra!), so stuck it on. It's on just squint enough for me to notice and get annoyed but not enough to justify doing it again. It'll do for now haha!

    Wheel bolt help.

Thanks, that sounds simple enough, did you replace yours with new ones? I'm not fussed about having a locking one as my wheels are unlikely to get nicked but new is always nice!

    Wheel bolt help.

Hello! My b6 for some reason came on 17s, which I think are standard on a b8? Anyway they have a weird wheel bolt unlike any locking one I've seen before and I don't have the key/ adapter to get it off. They have 9 lobes around the edge and a gap where the '10th' lobe would be. I was hoping...

    My 1.8t is fixing itself!

Christine - that crossed my mind and I hope not! KITT is too high tech, I'm just glad my cup holder works. As usual when something gets fixed I have now found a wee plastic pipe with a flat bit on the end poking out near the battery, which I have no idea what the hell it does, so the car was...

    My 1.8t is fixing itself!

I've been working through a list of the usual faults on my car, the other day I replaced the pcv valve - which looked bad but not as knackered as I thought it would, and a new valve cover gasket - which was in awful condition. After changing these parts my reversing sensors are now working for...

    Audi A4 fan problem

I have the same car model as you and had this problem. My temp gauge started playing up beforehand but the fan would come on sometimes when starting up. I changed the coolant temp sensor and it's been fine ever since.

    Difficulty engaging reverse 1.8t bex

I have this exact issue too, interested to see the fix. Selecting first on mine can sometimes be harder than it should too.

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Fitted a new coolant temp sensor. So exciting having a working gauge! My friend was changing his timing belt as I let my engine cool down and when he was finished it was still a bit warm but we thought "it'll be fine", the fountain of coolant that came out was spectacular! Hahaha!

What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Today I have been busy sorting my rear wiper which was upside down! Had a look to see if the plenum thing was full of water, and it was. I didn't want to remove the battery and couldn't reall pull the grommets out so I just pulled the one under the brake cylinder thing until all the water...

    New b6 avant 1.8t owner!

Hello! I just bought this as a family car the other day, and absolutely love it! Always had silly city cars before so im really enjoying a bigger car with decent power. It's an 04 with 95k on it. I got it cheap so don't know a lot of history, but it seems ok. A few interior bits to sort and it...
