Clutch switch - What is it for?

It disengages the cruise control where fitted. You will read many internet myths about this switch. When you get a new one measure it with multimeter whilst actuating it. You will see it is nothing mystical

    1.9tdi 100bhp, 115bhp, 130bhp

Maybe mine would have lasted with 20bhp less who knows. The torque was just too much. Clutch would spin and it simply wore out the friction plates. I replaced the clutch and had the MAP altered as I could spin the new clutch from day one. Its running around 140 now and is fine. My advice would...

    1.9tdi 100bhp, 115bhp, 130bhp

Real world that's not true. Mine was mapped to 170 and had a new LUK clutch fitted with a DMF at that point. The clutch lasted 6 months and I don't do sprint starts etc. Depending on the engine type the choice of replacement clutches is limited and when I fitted the new one, nobody could supply...

    Been caught speeding

Don't know where you got that. The above is easily found on loads of websites quoting Laws. Are you saying each Jaguar has its speedo individually calibrated depending on the tyre profile and wheels fitted to the car? I doubt it. The costs would be excessive having to recalibrate every time a...

    1.9Tdi Quattro MPG Average

I would say your MPG is about correct, bearing in mind you have the avant and it's quattro. My saloon non quattro returns around 44mpg round town and around 53mpg on a run. Those figures dip slightly during this cold weather. Quattro Tony... you did well there mate with your Golf. I have a 60...

    bravia pixely

That's how SD Sky works (all SD to be fair). The focal point of the picture will be good. The background does not contain the detail and looks pixelated. It saves bandwidth and money. Transmitting at a higher bit rate would improve the situation but uses more bandwidth and costs more money. In...

    Loose drivers seat

I didn't disconnect the battery. I disconnected the multi plugs from under the plastic cover on the floor underneath the seat (Don't turn on the ignition with these disconnected) then unbolted (4 Bolts) the seat and subframe from the floor. Getting the seat out is easy. I covered mine with an...

    Loose drivers seat

I had to grind mine out with an angle grinder. You need to remove the seat to do it. Once out it is obvious what the problem is. I fitted a sleeved cut down coach bolt. Pictures won't be easy with the seat in place

front upper linkages - mot fail

Suspension Arm | Car Suspension Joints | Suspension Parts for any car should be cheaper. Job is straightforward. I bought a full kit from Germany of every piece of the suspension and replaced it all in one. If I remember correctly the back upper one requires the suspension leg to be dropped to...

    Map Back To Standard.

Mine was fine for a while on the old clutch. The flywheel was new. the new clutch had 23 miles on it when it slipped again. don't get me wrong it wasn't slipping all the time but the fact I could make it do it was enough to know that it's life would be short. car drives perfectly now but I...

    Map Back To Standard.

To update this went to a place in Bradford and had the map adjusted. De-tuned for less torque and BHP. The result is that the clutch no longer slips when pushed hard. the difference in power is noticeable but not massively so.

    Map Back To Standard.

I fitted the clutch kit, complete. The DMF was changed less than 6 months ago. The system was checked for leaks and bled with fresh DOT4 fluid. The clutch operation and pedal feel great, but once rolling any spirited acceleration from around 2200 revs makes the clutch slip. Normal driving gives...

    Map Back To Standard.

I have a couple of questions. My car was mapped when I bought it (Audi 1.9TDI, 2001 AWX) It was originally a 130bhp. Goodness knows what it is now. The problem is I have just fitted a brand new clutch ( the last one lasted 5 months) and first run out as soon as any of the huge amount of torque...

    new clutch?

I am just in the middle of fitting a clutch to mine at present. The LUK kit for mine was £134 the DMF was done less than a year ago. garage quoted £650 for the lot on a 1.9TDI so yours may vary slightly from that in price. Job is straightforward DIY but you will need a transmission jack unless...
