Thanks for the reply, I couldn't get at the turbo myself to check for a loose bearing, couldn't get in from the top and couldn't get in from underneath due to the crossmember and drive shaft. I think mines gonna be more fiddly than a FWD car, which is annoying because it means more labour to pay...

Well I appreciate your advice anyway mate. With a bit of luck a hose will have just come loose, but otherwise after all this advice and research I'll probably just swap the turbo for a new or reconditioned one of the same type if it has failed.

Haha, that's madness. To be honest, I'm happy with the 178 bhp I have already. I just want to be able to swap out the turbo with something similar but more reliable/stronger, as I've read too much about the original turbo being unreliable and it's really put me off the idea of swapping it out...
